I like Alex Morgan. She is one of the top three forwards, along with Mia and Abby, in USWNT history. But the time has come for her to come off the bench. She still deserves to be in the team, just not in the starting eleven. Too much young talent on this team that deserves the opportunity to start. I hope whoever the next coach is realizes this and makes the tough but smart decision to have Alex come off the bench.
She hasn't scored an international goal in how many years. She shouldn't have been on the USWNT at the last World Cup. Once great, now completely ineffective.
Happy for Colombia. This used to be an easy 5-0 win for the USWNT. Glad to see that Colombia is giving younger players a chance. Giraldo (GK) looks like she is 15. Saludos

I feel that US Soccer has really show themselves in the foot with doing these “send off games” for retiring vets because now the staff may hold on to aging players they don’t need to for that reason. A national team should be the best 23 players in your country at the time, not the trendiest players who used to be something.

Alex Morgan is only starting because her name is Alex Morgan. I'm sorry, but 10 national team games with no goals, as a forward?? You need to be on the bench. Hatch came in and had an immediate impact.
I just chalked the World Cup up to a one time fluke, but it’s very clear to me now that Alex shouldn’t be called up anymore. They are forsaking young, prime players for recognizable faces, and it’s ridiculous.
Alex Morgan has had a great career, one of the best. But it is time for her to retire from the national team. She won't do it voluntarily. Andonovski had zero spine to get rid of aging stars. Does Kilgore have the courage and wisdom to do what is right for the team and the program?
Morgan is still one of the best at finding dangerous space around the box. She hasn't converted in ways we're used to, but players get to be in slumps. That's sports. And leave it to casual fans to make a big deal about it.
It makes me sad for the United States soccer team two months ago we were talking about a generation change in the World Cup , about starting to try out young players and we are falling into the same situation, we don't learn from our mistakes, there are players who should no longer be on the team like Morgan, we are afraid o what ??we have to give new players the opportunity to show how good you are or is it about business? . very sad
More than a few players on USWNT are past their prime, and their desire to continue their legacy with the team is actually preventing the team from moving forward. If they aren't now, then they will be by the next WWC in 2027. If only they would retire. (I won't name names, but it's becoming obvious anymore.) That missed PK is karma making itself known.
Morgan "past her prime" is still a really, really good player. And a really, really good teammate, which means a lot at every phase of a team in transition.

USWNT not investing in youth level. Best players came from decades ago (Ertz, Dunn, Lavelle). These new players are good but don't have the grit up against the stronger European teams. I was able to get front row seats, so when the game finished, the whole crowd began to come down & seemed so excited to meet the players. I believe they were Murphy, Hatch & Saurbraunn and I believe O'Hara made a quick stop to sign 1 jersey on her way to the tunnel & that was it. I expected more from Kelley since Utah was once her home just like it was for Becky. There was a big roar from the crowd when Kelly got subbed in & of coarse when she scored. So much love was giving to her that game & it was disappointing to see it wasn't reciprocated. They made a quick walk around the stadium but looked a bit uninterested & cocky, with most not even looking at the crowd. After the round they immediately went straight to the tunnel. I saw a lot of little girls with their jerseys in hand crying because they weren't able to meet their idols. It was obvious they didn't want to stop & say hello to their fans. While Colombia was the complete opposite! Even though they lost the game they showed love to their people & they all went around the whole stadium to sign jerseys, take pictures & even took a couple minutes to chat with their people! They showed genuine intrest & gratitude. It made me want to take pictures with them but I honestly didn't know any of their players so I felt awful doing so .. but they were completely different to the uswnt & their attitude. That experience in itself left a bad taste in my mouth, & it was the reason I didn't attend last night's game. Maybe others felt the same way who knows but I will say that wasn't a good look. I feel like pre-world cup & during WC they became very arrogant & acted like the world didn't deserve them. Hopefully this WC experience humbled them a little.

Stop starting andi and put Coffey in as 6 with Horan and another CM working in front. You don’t need 2 double 6s
In the first half, watching the national teams play, I slowly fell asleep under the cold wind in the stadium, but at the end of the first half, Morgan's missed penalty kept me awake and gave me hope for the rest of the match. In the second half, the coach introduced four fresh players, the game took on new colors, and we saw the beauty of women's football. Luck was on Colombia's side that night in the 41st and 95th minutes. There are days like this in football, we love it for its unpredictability.
Agreed! The last part of the game was the best, with multiple opportunities for goals. Playing those younger players and giving them more game time is the answer!!
People need to be patient. This was the team's first effort with this lineup of new players. I think the team played relatively well. Attack needs to be worked on. It's going to take some time. Defense did a good job keeping the 'cafeteras' at bay! I'm looking forward to Sunday. We should see some scoring!;what about Sanchez?
Alex Morgan shouldn’t be starting anymore, her level in football is not the same as it was a couple of years ago. Time to get her starting position to the new generation of players.
This is a MORAL victory for Columbia, period. Alex Morgan is way over-rated and she hasn't scored a goal in forever. She should recluse herself from the team. Make any excuses, I dont care. With that said, I no longer support the USWNT due to their anti-American hate and cynicism. In fact, I don't care for any of these women, bar none. I will be rooting against them. I'm praying they don't win anything in 2024 Olympics. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Alex will get out of this slump Sunday and prove why she deserves to start. Not only was this the Columbia team that beat Germany, sometimes goalies win the day (Musovic, anyone?)
We'll get out of slump if she would just warm the bench. Stop with Sullivan, Sauerbrunn, Dunn, Horan, Sonnet fiasco. Let's see the following players: should be Lund at goalie, but they don't select her. Let's start with Murphy then. But I'll accept Naeher. Backline: Fox, Girma, Cook, Huerta. Sanchez, Moultrie, Lavelle at mid, Thompson or Smith, Hatch, Rodman up top. Or let's see Shaw in for Hatch and Smith on the right and Thompson on the Left. Speed and control on the ball. Stop with the oldie but goodies. Maybe USWNT soccer is afraid to shock the old fans. I don't care who the players are just that they can play. Players to consider: McCaskill, Weaver, Kate Del Fava, and Mace. Look at how they play versus what we're getting. Mace put a move on Girma that made her look bad. Weaver connects well with Smith. McCaskill gets Thompson. Tough as nails too. Kate Del Fava has height and made Rapinoe look bad last year, which isn't hard. USA has attackers but they need to be able to play 1v1.. One touch the ball. And they need to defend up top. We keep struggling at the mid. Notice Colombia and Spain don't have that issue on the ball.
Man, 0-0 tie, and a missed penalty shot as a highlight, a real exciting 90 minutes. Throw the boys under 17 team out there and let’s see how long it takes them to get to 10 goals.
What are you people? Alex Morgan openly forgave Colombia several times, you just weren't lucky today, especially since this is the same Colombia that was in the quarter-finals of the 2023 World Cup. And in general, it's just a friendly match. The game is really cool, the level is very intense.
now, this is the way to go, it, has taken some frustration, world cup early exit, and the retirement of some old ladies but finally (fingers crossed) this is the beginning of the new era. Thise bunch is not ready yet, but I willing to support them throughout their learning: it going to be exiting. Let them make mistakes now, just keep them at it.
Anyone remember the last time Morgan scored a goal in international play? Forget the last World Cup, forget the Olympics, keep going and going.... After winning the World Cup way back when, Morgan, much like Rapinoe, dropped off the face of the earth as a scoring threat. She hasn't been able to score for years.
I hope the new coach will do something different with the offense. They have been incompetent for a long time. It’s stupid to keep starting the same players when they can’t score or pass. If it isn’t working you have to try something new. There is so much talent on the bench. Why are they on the bench? Is this a ploy to not have to pay the players for winning? That’s it right? The coach gets a secret payment for starting a weak offense if they don’t win.
The only reason I watch US women's highlights is to take great pleasure in seeing Morgan missing penalties. And in chilly conditions, USA should have an advantage over warm-weather country teams like Colombia. But nope. RIP.
@@brucerehberger9080 You really think the US players don’t revel in seeing their opponents fail? Morgan tea cup Vs England? Rapinoe kicking a ball straight in Lauren Hemp’s face? I support plenty of women’s players and teams - just not the ones who cheat or show zero respect for their opponents.
They showed a tad more creativity, even a few sparks of brilliance, especially in the 2nd half. But they still have a long way to go, especially where the basic skills are concerned.
Morgan should not have played the second half! After missing the free kick, in any team there are repercussions for giant errors in plays . It happens in all major sports except USWNT!!! There has been no improvement since Vlatco !!!
Some missed chances by the USWNT, need to improve in finishing those scoring goal opportunities. The refereeing in this match also needs improvement, at times seemed like one sided calls.

@@kellyeverett Yeah, well it's a lot harder to win world cups when your opponents are well-funded and professional. USWNT got a harsh lesson on that in this past world cup. Big countries aren't sending underfunded women's teams with semi-pros and amateurs to the Women's World Cup like they used to. As far as both teams are looking right now, USMNT is on a better trajectory. They're not at the elite level, but they are at least improving. USWNT by comparison has been regressing. They've had their worst World Cup in history and that comes off the back of repeated failures by USWNT youth teams. The U20 Women's team has had 2 group stage exits in a row at the the U20 Women's World Cup (compared to 2 quarterfinal runs by the U20 men's team in the same span). Players who were part of these group stage exits are now making the senior team.

Granny senior citizen missed 2 good opertunities.a starter.this coach is freeing clueless I suppose? Lyn-hatch-smith =goals for usa.
Yet just last year, everyone was calling for Lynn’s head, saying she didn’t deserve a spot. Players go through slumps.
Two easy chances for Alex Morgan.
1. It's Colombia. 2. Alex Morgan couldn't finish a sandwich. She's over the hill. She was a great player, but it's over.
@@catman518Good analysis and worth implementing in a friendly match
Morgan needs to go to the bench. Name power and commercialism be damned.
Wow, looks like there were a couple hundred people in attendance.
Well.... it was in the 30's at gametime.
Sure missed a sizzler!
There were over 60,000 at the last match. It was under 30 degrees at this match.
Whats wrong Alex... your penalty..its not funny... your Coach.. whats wrong... where is Smith..Swanson..Kornieck..Thomson.. Hacth..
Yikes! Mostly empty stadium, lack luster play, and 0-0 against a really bad Colombia side 😂
now, this is the way to go, it, has taken some frustration, world cup early exit, and the retirement of some old ladies but finally (fingers crossed) this is the beginning of the new era.
Dam alex!
Alex Morgan started and she well start the next game. Tough game.
That referee is bad . She should not let the players get in her head.
The USWNT should worry more about playing and a lot less on politics.
This is the lamest game of the US women's team. Disappointing and to be forgotten 😞😞
The only reason I watch US women's highlights is to take great pleasure in seeing Morgan missing penalties. And in chilly conditions, USA should have an advantage over warm-weather country teams like Colombia. But nope. RIP.
Wow, you watch the US women with the hope of seeing Morgan fail. Aren't you a charmer! Do us all a favor---stop watching.
Weak sauce. Morgan needs to be way down the bench. Give Multrie a shot.
What happened to Olivia Moultrie?
US Soccer called up 27 players and only 23 dressed which is probably the FIFA limit.
@@erobinsonii oh that makes sense, thank you!
Wow almost a thousand people in a stadium made for 30 thousand.
Still can’t beat good teams. Try Singapore or taipan teams
They showed a tad more creativity, even a few sparks of brilliance, especially in the 2nd half. But they still have a long way to go, especially where the basic skills are concerned.
¿talking about USA team?😁
Would be nice if this video actually showed a replay
We have some of the best lesbians in the world ! Dammit !
Can someone else kick those penalties
Por favor
No goals, no fun😢
Why does this team perform so poorly?
Valuable playing time is being wasted by not fielding the young players on the pitch. Sad.
Same old - nothing new to see here.
oooover hyyyped senior citizen still a starter? this coach must be clueless!!!.lyn-hatch-smith,as attacking combo will work better
Yet just last year, everyone was calling for Lynn’s head, saying she didn’t deserve a spot. Every player goes through slumps.
Some fans are totolly clueless.
like you my friend!!!.@@TomF18
Alex Morgan, she is not playing very well. 🤦🏾♂️
She is playing and passing well.... however she is on a scoring slump. Players in all sports have rough periods. She will break out in time.
This team is mediocre at best.
We’re is the rest of the games
Morgan should not have played the second half! After missing the free kick, in any team there are repercussions for giant errors in plays . It happens in all major sports except USWNT!!! There has been no improvement since Vlatco !!!
Some missed chances by the USWNT, need to improve in finishing those scoring goal opportunities.
The refereeing in this match also needs improvement, at times seemed like one sided calls.
There goes a dianasty in a fall what happened to the great usa soccer team we had the one that put fear i still dont know what alex morgan is still playing she used to be good now shes just taking up a spot
That was tough to watch.
Get a new "Highlights" editor...What was that?
Why the smile time to move on kicking the ball at the goalie is not what a top player does 🇺🇸
❤❤❤Greetings Colombia,,,
I dont wanna hear about women need to be paid more or as much as the men like this game was ridiculous
lol.. have you seen the men play 😅
@@kellyeverettclearly you haven’t.
@@mikal024 yes I have and they have won 0 world cups
Talk about off topic lol
Good game for Colombia team
Alex Morgan just doesn't seem to have it any more. Her penalty miss was terrible. I'm not convinced by Sophia Smith either. It's going to be a few lean years for the USA until some fresh talent emerges. Please replace Julie Foudy as a commentator. Her shrieking voice is so annoying.
What happened to da uswnt i once fell in love with😢?...
Times change yk...
Alex has great leadership skills
That still prove useful
Jack neo very good
🇨🇴 COLOMBIA ❤
Uswnt are still not technically sound
Did you expect a mass change overnight? Get serious.
Morgan 👊😅👊
Nice😊
Lmao that was sad. Can't even get a shot on goal with a PK?
Seeing the thumbnail of Alex Morgan smiling, you woulda thought she scored a goal or two… figures she smiles after she misses a free give me goal.
PLEASE GET RID OF ALEX MORGAN. She's old and her time is done. Bring in the young squad. We need to build from them. Only keep Horan and Tierna.
Someone tell me why these girls laugh and smile after missing penalty kicks??
@@Ralph_Smith0724 Came from the same mould as Rapinoe, only difference is Morgan isn't a lesbian.
@@CR7ADP10 …which has nothing to do with anything. The smile is nothing more than an embarrassed, “What else can go wrong?” reaction. Let humans be human, for Chrissake.
i’m assuming it’s embarrassment
still can't score!
Still can't figure out that problems are not solved overnight. Columbia is very fast and organized in their own end not to mention they finished in the top eight at the WC losing to 2nd place finisher England.
Even in a friendly, the stadiums are full when the men play, that's to say that women shouldn't be demanding equol pay, never.
Haha…more KARMA!!!
Uh… Karma for what, exactly?
Don't tell me your still on this World Cup BS/drama/shenanigans, cuz if you are drop it already that's been over for.the past 2 months
Carli Lloyd is right.
Carli Lloyd, many people think you are right, and good for you. You are still selling out to the right, and there is nothing implicitly wrong with that. I'm not a big fan of the FOX Corporation, but it's a free country. Step on as many toes as you have to.
I thought the US was going with a youth movement to give their young players some experience? Guess they can't let go of the past...
dare to say - scoring does not work without Mallory
Alex Morgan should be retired. She is getting old and can’t run or shoot the ball accurately anymore.
Why is Alex Morgan still on this team? She can’t finish a happy meal!!!! Jesus Christ!!!!
