Making a Wooden Block Plane from Firewood
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 26 ม.ค. 2025
- A while ago I bought this plane blade on a Fleamarket. Now I took some time to make a Block plane body to use it. I used a piece of Beech firewood which has dried for more than 2 years. The blade sits bevel up in the body on a 20-degree slope. For a finish, I applied some home made Linseed oil-Beeswax mixture.
Thank you very much for watching!
Big thanks to all my patrons especially Sithis Michaelis and Larry Radcliffe!

Music by Epidemic Sound (www.epidemicsou...)
I loved the plywood hacksaw. Mine doesn’t make music but it’s metal. Really enjoy going to the scrap drawer, then the firewood pile. Must be oak. Great little plane and the music it makes.
Thank you very much! It’s beech.
@@Ollaris How does the sound go higher when you turn the wing nut to loosen it? Ha, Ha. One of the best sound effect ever on youtube!
Love it and expect to hear a chain saw at the band saw, weed eater at the drill press next.
Man, too good! 3 thumbs up... my two and the neighbor who borrowed my saws-all. I keep it a jar and will tell him someday. Maybe Christmas in box.
Hahahahaha!
Very, very nice looking plane body and great sharpening. Inspirational.
A video from the man that has the most relaxing sounding machines on the internet.
Hahahaha!
Beautiful beech wood block plane!

Super. Mach weiter so.
Vielen Dank!
I almost turned this video off when I saw the power saws come out. That was until I noticed you replaced the noise pollution with music. That got my sub. Cool vid. Cool plane.

Thanks Tomy!
Just beautiful, love it!
Thank you Robert!
Mann du bist echt ein Künstler, auch im Video Bereich. Hut ab :-)))
Vielen Dank Paul!
Beautiful plane! Any need to worry about issues with difference in wood moisture between your shop environment and the wood shed? I notice my outside wood is about 12%, indoors around 6%, at least in winter.
Also, I assume this build could be done with hand tools? Plane all edges flat and square with a hand plane (I do have access to a table saw for cuts). Any issues you might anticipate with that approach?
Thanks for the video!
What kind of diamond Stones you have three types could you tell? Model company. Thx
