    Jordan made defenses look really bad because of his elite abilities to both drive to to the basket and hit that pull up jumper. He constantly had defenders in limbo.

    “Defense was horrible, defense was terrible.” Fam, you missin the point of the whole video. THATS what Mike did. He MADE them look horrible and terrible. Yes, there was some bad defensive plays in this, but the majority was HIM making them look bad. Craig Elo was one of the best defensive players in the league and he dropped 53 and 69 on they head. He made the best defensive players in the league look like high school players. Yes, even the glove.
    You a hater frfr.

      Yeah, calling Mutombo terrible on defense omg. Prior to that highlight, he's blocked every Jordan dunk and bragged about it. But not that time! Hance the "No, no, no" from MJ afterwards. The denial is so strong in this one. Pure ignorance of Mutombo.

      I love the LFR reactions, but I will say the constant knocking of the era's inability to play defense was a bit much. Especially after stating that he had Gary Payton over MJ because of his defense.

    You're forgetting how quick MJ was, dude was hitting a 4.3 in the forty in his early years. You had to see it in person, it wasn't that defenses were bad as much as MJ was just deceivingly quick and would blow by before they could react. That speed was also why he made 1st team defense so many times. Throw in his athleticism and hang time with those big hands and you have the GOAT!

    Jordan's dunk off of a free throw (highlight #14 at 17:23) was legal, back then the moment the ball left the shooters hand it was a live ball. Remember Jordan's speed made most of the defenders look terrible. Don't fault a speedster for embarrassing a slower athlete. Jordan would crush today's touch foul flop league.

    So there might have been some bad defense in Jordan’s day but there is absolutely no defense today. Jordan was hit almost every time he moved and nearly every shot was contested. And its not luck when he did it so many times. Plus Jordan never flopped. I’m a Larry Bird and Tim Duncan fan but Jordan is the Goat. Labron “flops a lot” James only ruined the game and can’t get his wallet out of China to actually play real basketball. He only whines and complains like a brat. Tim Duncan and the Spurs were the last real basketball in the NBA. Now it’s more like the WWE then a true sport. Money and flashy shiny so called entertainment are the focus now.

    • @PizzaTime727
      @PizzaTime727 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well said. Downplaying the intense physical defense of that era to downplay Jordan is not cool. Some defenders were just bamboozled. Some defenders rather not give MJ the 3 point play, coz clearly the highlights show he will most likely make them(MJ is about 83ish from the line, LBJ is 73ish). And these are just 50 of what Jordan brought to every game, and every night and especially in the playoffs and finals.

    • @mpound97
      @mpound97 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's what these haters don't understand. MJ made the game look easy when you combine supreme athleticism with basic fundamentals and a killer competitive drive. Jordan was the first to combine those traits. Plus he was the first and second scoring option at times in his career so he's seen everything a defense can throw plus the kitchen sink. So when you've seen every defense and most of the time you can overcome and score on it without much help from your teammates because of your own abilities, yes it's going to look effortless...AND that's one reason why Jordan is the goat.

    Can you react to Jordan’s passing highlights? Most people don’t know that he’s one of the best passers to ever play the game because he’s known for scoring. But he won 6 chips in 8 years while playing in the triangle offense. A system based on ball movement and screen setting. If he was this selfish player that he’s be painted as then that kind of success wouldn’t be possible in an offense based on sharing the ball

    MJ was chewin on his tongue most of the time...nervous habit I guess. Everybody even started doin that to emulate him lol. I've never seen it on video or tape anywhere, but it was said that MJ could pick up a car battery with one hand. And yup, he dunked on everybody. But, he would abuse Craig Ehlo at every chance for whatever reason (personally, I think that it was because Ehlo would "D" MJ up and play tough the whole game. MJ respected that perhaps). But, I gotta thank you for the Len Bias shout out. I got to see him play in person a few times against WVU while he was at Maryland, and he was my favorite college player at the time. Jordan took his lumps in the NBA a little before you could tell he was gonna be different. Len was already doin some crazy sht in college. Gets drafted #1 by the Celtics, and the next thing you know he's gone because of some freakish heart problems. Ripped my guts out when I heard the news. Only God knows what he could have been. Perhaps, the Lord didn't want him to lay waste to the NBA lol.

    I've loved checking our your music reaction videos. Always entertaining. But have to say, this actually isn't the best video if you want to get a handle on just how amazing MJ was night in and night out. It's not even top 5 as far as MJ videos go. I don't feel the need to preach to try to convince anyone Jordan was the GOAT. Even with advanced statistics, there are a lot of intangibles and there is subjectivity (the "eye test"), so there is no way to definitively *prove* it anyway. Some people make a case for Wilt, Russell, Kareem, Lebron, etc. And I'm not going to roll out a wall of stats and accolades that demonstrate just what a ridiculously gifted player MJ was to try to settle any debate. But some things to consider--he was a beast on both ends of the court and a nightmare matchup on offense and defense, never took a night off (hell, never took a play off, even as a busted-up 39 year-old shell of his former self in Washington), 100% relentless, monumentally clutch, and a lot of other players didn't just respect him, they feared him. I watched MJ in his prime, and Kobe, and Lebron, and everyone in between. I've never seen seen a more complete, gifted, competitive, driven, and astounding player than MJ in my life. Even these highlight reels don't do him justice because he did this stuff on the regular, but here are a couple other videos that I think better showcase just how amazing he was if you want to go down a rabbit hole. th-cam.com/video/SUo8skGvl-Q/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/8M7yBjtx_Ic/w-d-xo.html

    Your asking people to play impossible defense. Jordan had one of the quickest first step ever. Don’t give him the baseline? Motumbo was coming to help out and the play MJ called took his own defender out of the play. Duh. How many lucky shots do you have to make before you figure out that ain’t luck. Mike did that stuff EVERY NIGHT!! I watched almost every game he played in and for MJ those shots might be Low percentage but not luck.

  • @JohnDoe-zr8pc
    @JohnDoe-zr8pc 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Some of them were bad defense yes, but the vast majority were just MJ being THAT good & slicing them up. He was so quick, especially off the dribble, that he kept them off balance, and normally vary good defenders were just thrown off.
    Also, the defense then was light years better than whatever the hell they play today & call defense. Prime MJ (86-93) would easily average low 40s in this no defense league.

    I'll give you props on a lot of videos that you make but I can't honestly give you that on this one. First of all you keep on saying that these were luck shots that he was making when in reality you know that it was like he was playing streetball with a bunch of children. No one was able to take on Jordan. And if those were lucky trick shots then all you have to do is just pull up how many years he did those type of shots in the NBA and they went in. Those will be lucky shots for anyone else but Jordan because Jordan made a habit of making them. Second of all when he came back from retirement and he was with the Washington wizards you called him number 45. He was wearing his number 23 in that shot. And ask for your comparisons of him and Dominique Wilkins or Gary Payton, he was better than all of them and all you have to do is look at interviews with them and they will say that he was that good. Larry Bird who I consider one of the greatest of all time and who I would put ahead of Lebron in my opinion, called Michael Jordan "God in basketball shoes". I've never been a fan of LeBron and I don't think he is the goat. I'll give him credit for all the accomplishments that he made but they were manufactured. To win he had to go to different teams and convince other top players to go with him. Jordan didn't have to do that. Jordan stood in a losing team and made it a winner with six rings and five MVPs. Jordan also played when it was still hand checking whereas LeBron plays with only forearm checking. It was harder when it was hand checking and the fouls were more brutal back then whereas now somebody as big as LeBron cries like a baby when he gets tapped. I have no respect for LeBron. Had Michael Jordan been in his prime in the NBA right now with no hand checking he will be averaging 45 points per game if not more. Also you're wrong about the NBA players back then. The guys back then had more heart and were more body man to man than they are now. You had so many superstars that didn't get MVP because you had the Superstar superstar is there Michael Jordan and you also had magic Johnson and Larry Bird it was hard for anyone to get MVP because of those three. But any one of those players like Karl Malone, John Stockton, Charles Barkley, Dominique Wilkins, Alex English, Adrian Dantley and so on and so on. You also talk about the defense on the video but the defense now are a bunch of flip floppers we're back then they take a hit and remember Jordan was the only true star on his team and he created Scottie pippen from a bunch of bench players where is LeBron manufactured convincing superstars from other teams to join him. LeBron took the easy way out just like a lot of players so I'll give him no props and remember back then they had the "Jordan Rules" created by the Detroit Pistons right special defense against Jordan they still couldn't stop him so I think you're wrong on all of the aspects. And every time you say that we don't give no Credence to defense back then you diminish Michael Jordan's accomplishments. You're saying that he was only so good because of defenses sucked that's basically what your whole premise was and you're completely wrong.

    Any reasonable person would never say Jordan was perfect. No-one is. He missed some shots and fumbled from time to time. And, the bad boy Pistons beat the HELL out of Jordan and he took it to win. Jordan himself said he 'work with what the defense gives me'. He worked his fundamentals which gave him all the extras. The defense never knew WHERE he was coming from because he had EVERYTHING in his 'tooll box'.

    Jow, you talk about that there is no defense, there always was defense, but when they saw Jordan with the ball the fear just made the defense crumble. You just watched highlights, you should have seen the games. Some just did not challenge him, because they were tired of getting shamed again. Some just didn't even try to jump and some even moved out of the way. You can even say that they feared to challenge him. How would you feel to be dunked on again for the 3rd time?
