ability haste doesn't have less value the more you buy, the problem with cdr was that it had more value the more you buy. Haste is supposed to be the amount of abilities you can cast more in the same time, so 25 Haste is 25% more abilities in the same time, and that equates to needing 20% cdr. handy numbers: 25 haste = 20%, 50 haste = 33%, 100 haste = 50% (half the cooldown means double the amount of spells), 200 haste = 66% and finally the urf value 300 haste = 75%. In the end the most amount of cdr you could buy before the haste change was 40%, so now you actually gain more cdr overall.
ahh interesting, this explanation summarizes it pretty well. I guess i just misunderstood it. I always thought u get less % cdr the more haste you buy. Which i assumed meant less value the more you buy
@@SloppyWalrusX It still has some value loss, but thats just due to getting one more ability per rotation being more impactful when going from 1 -> 2 abilities during a timeframe instead of going from 2 -> 3 abilities. but each 100 haste basically gives one more ability during the same time, lets say an ability has 10 sec cd with 100 haste you get 2 abilities during 10 secs (5sec cd) and with 200 haste you get 3 abilities (3.33 sec cd)
EDIT: But thats just the same drop off as when going from 100 to 200 ad, and then going from 200 to 300 ad

Ability haste doesn't have less value the more you buy of it, since its multiplicative. Going from 0 to 50% would have your cooldown, going from 50% to 75% would half them again. It just looks like smaller numbers

1 ah is 1% more abilities.
1 armor or 1 mr is 1% more survivability.
You can't just add the percentages straight up, additively, because then each point becomes more efficient than the last. With this system, 100 AH is 100% more abilities- double the abilities, half the cooldowns, 50% cooldown reduction. Same with resistances (100 armor is double the effective health against physical damage- 50% damage taken)
I think its honestly more intuitive? It makes more sense. Certainly makes more sense than just buying reduction straight up
Idk it just bothers me that people often don't understand what's going on, and well leagues lack of explaining mechanics doesn't help much, sadly (like, resistances and AH don't get worse when you buy more of them- not any more than buying more ad or ap gets worse.)
@@sculamica4159 No, you're misunderstanding them. Each extra point of ability haste reduces your remaining ability cooldown by the same amount. If we had the linear system as with CDR, the amount of your remaining ability cooldown reduced by the 10% cdr you buy at 30% would be way, way larger than the first 10% you bought. Back when we had the old system, in order to build efficiently you had to go for the 40% always, while now you buy as much as you need.

I don't know why chat is spreading misinformation. Ability haste was introduced to out an end to forced build paths, since you can no longer overcap on cdr. That is a good thing! Previously mages and supports especially had to waste gold on cdr they would not use and it felt like crap
Cooldown: seconds per ability
Haste: abilities per second
CDR: Cooldown decays linearly = bad design
Haste: Cooldown decays exponentially = good design
A concept so innovative the Smite 2 devs yoinked it, like they did turret platings and turret first blood and dragon progression and hybrid scalings and siege minions

Ability haste is kinda intuitive though. If you got a 10 sec cd ability, and you gain 25 AH from your first item giving you 20% CDR, now you ability is at an 8 sec cd. If you gain 25 AH from your second item, you gain a multiplicative 20% CDR, i.e.: 20% CDR on the 8 sec cd. This brings the cd down to 6.4 sec, for a total of 36% CDR on the original cd.
