Thank you for catching Rebecca’s reaction to Ted’s concern over her divorce! That was one of my favorite moments in episode one. It’s the first example we see of Ted wanting to make sure that everyone he encounters is all right.
Just to answer a question you had. The Scout movement was founded in the UK by Lord Robert Baden-Powell, based on his book Scouting for Boys in 1908. So yeah we definitely has scouts here.
The Boy Scout movement was founded in the UK, in 1907, and gradually spread across the world from there. It reached the US in 1910, after American William Dickson Boyce had encountered a Scout in London, and been impressed by the boy's helpfulness. Boyce then visited the Scout headquarters in London, and volunteered to bring Scouting to the US.
I think what really takes Rebecca aback about Ted asking if she's okay is that she realizes he's asking because he genuinely wants to make sure she's okay. It's not just a platitude or a chance to get some dirt.
The song playing in the Outro is Glad All Over by the Dave Clark Five, its the team anthem of Crystal Palace, the team that beat Richmond in the episodes match.
The players reaction (and the people in general) is justified. A coach/manager at the top of professional English football earns about 5M USD/year. This guy takes the job and the first thing he says is "I don't even know the rules". Of course as viewers we side with Ted but if this happened in real life the reporter asking "Is this a f* joke" would be the most natural thing in the world.
17:28 Its most likely true. Ted Lasso's previous highest level of coaching was at the Division 2 (American) football collegiate level, while Jamie Tart is the star player on a Premiere League Team.
I agree- the better, more productive action would be to make the team better. But she's so deep in her hurt (and rightfully so) that it makes that this is the direction she's going in. She's not thinking rationally right now.
I think that Rebecca wants to take down the club not just because doing so would destroy Rupert because he loves it so, but because she might be jealous of it. As her marriage was falling apart, it had to have just killed her to see Rupert showing passion on every game day that he was no longer showing to her. That would explain her wanting to keep up a distance with the players by not joining them at Sam’s party. But, she couldn’t resist engaging with Keeley and Ted over lion vs. panda, could she?
Agreed. After watching the first two seasons, I told friends and family that _Ted Lasso_ restored my faith in humanity. That might be an exaggeration, but only slightly...
As of 2022 there had been three American maanagers (including a former US national mens team head coach) in Premier league (top division) history. Bear in mind the premier league started in 1993 replacing the old First Division of English football. There are 4 fully professional divisions of English football, not sure theres a readily available stat for American managers across all time at all levels. There have been some very good american players in England over the years including goalkeeper though. There are a couple of European Soccer videos explained for Americans on youtube that are interesting but that might put you a step ahead of Ted tho
There are actually two other assistant coaches on the team. They show up in the background during training and games, but they never have any speaking lines and aren't ever identified -- they are just kind of scenery.
The wouldnt you want to get bwhind your coach thing is a little naive. It’s not some high school team. These are professionals. This is their careers, their livelihoods being messed with. It is borderline insulting to bring in someone who knows absolutely nothing about the game. I mean, that was the whole intent behind hiring him in the first place. To be the worst possible selection. Someone who could not only not help the team win, but to actually publicly embarrass the franchise. Despite that, there's reall only been two players that have been actively against Ted. Jamie, who would most likely be acting the same towards any coach, and Roy, who has been in the league a long time, and most likely just views the whole thing as a lack of respect.
Adding to this... These players are concerned with how they look to future clubs. They might look better working against this outsider coach than they would if they worked with him.

Saved me from writing a similar response. Nice.
I learned something!

Ted Lasso episodes are all like a big boost of serotonin.

"The best revenge is living well." That's true, but it's also a thought you can only have after you reach the right state of mind for it.

They should prescribe this show for depression and anxiety.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney owns Wrexham down on luck team in north Wales. And doing quite well after 2 or 3 seasons now.

And a medical staff we only see very sporadically
Yeah Biscuits ! Apparently first season biscuits were pretty gross, second season got better.
Biscuits!!! (Comments help right?)

Ecen at this episode... the character and their interaction are so novel and deeper than normal. Wait... to be amazed with more (much more) of that.
