It’s too soft with no emotion, he had to bleep out the swearing. It wasn’t bad but in my opinion the live one isn’t as good, I used to listen to the OG version before the live came out that’s maybe why
@@NorahCIIV yeah I think for first time hearing, the live version is better, but yh I can understand why OG is better, also he slipped up one bar in the live version but it makes it feel more authentic
one of his craziest bars go "now youre cutting through bricks like the 118" this is such a crazy bar because he is referring to cutting through cocaine bricks but there is also a borough in london called brixton where the bus number 118 goes through. that bus also crashed into a brick wall so the 118 literally cut through bricks. It is such an amazing bar and anything you pick up on is probably intentional because this man is a genius!
Some Dave songs will leave you pausing every few seconds because he is arguably one of the best lyricists in the world. HANDS DOWN. Panic Attack is one of my favorites.

I think Dave has some really thought provoking songs. Id recommend Environment, and Black as two songs that really showcase his ability to tell stories and write. Hope to see you reacting to those as I think you'd really like them!
Yeah people need to request more of these songs, he will understand them better. This song wasn’t suited for him to react to at all in my opinion lol. The slang was pretty strong.

Great catch finding the menu line you got it spot on. He also did one earlier in the song when he said “ I don’t wanna you and I ( U N I) like I’m in Leicester skipping my lectures” (Leicester university)

My 19th birthday by Dave is a longer, deeper, more comprehensible song that I really recommend
I’m only new to your channel but the Dave videos dragged me in. Dave is my favourite artist and he really is worth listening to. His lyrics are deep along with an ingenious flow that links all of his word play together. He’s one of those artists that you can listen to any song out of his discography and feel like you learnt something about him, the culture, or yourself. Peng basically translates to beautiful/great/tasty(food)/many other positive adjective. Ting basically means thing or girl or many other things depending on the context. I’ve seen some other comments but I would recommend Black by Dave as well. Do the live version at the Brits, he adds an extra verse to the end that isn’t on the original version!

You could try using genius for song lyrics, that way you can watch the visuals as well. also using genius you can find out what a lot of the slang and bars actually mean.

If you don't understand everything it's okay, its a bit of a learning experience and I love the Dave reactions. This type of music isn't supposed to be caught in one go like it has to be digested, I definitely don't understand every lyric till I listen a few times so no worries

Streatham is a part of South London, it’s where I live 😁 it’s got a bit of an edge to it in my opinion, in the 90s and early 00s when Dave was growing up it was pretty rough, now it’s more of an ‘up and coming’ and has become a lot more gentrified, like a lot of parts of London though, you have the rougher neighbourhoods that are only five minutes away from the million pound houses
Hey mate I know you probably get this a lot, I’ve only just found you recently but I love how you can appreciate this type of music and be so open minded listening all the time. It’s clear you’re extremely musically intelligent, but you’re just so hip for a fella your age, I love it! Thanks heaps for this channel, keep it up man 😊

“Brix” is also short for Brixton (a place in London) which the 118 bus drives through.

When he says “you and I” then says about skipping his lectures. It’s word play. “You and I” when pronounced differently sounds like uni - short for university. So when he’s skipping lectures he’s referring to university

that guy doing the lyrics meant merc when he said murk, a merc is a mercedes car which is a german brand, winston churchill being the english leader in ww2 fighting the germans, but merc means to beat up or do sm bad to u in english slang (time reference 7:25 )
At least you don't say the songs are bad just because you don't fully understand them. Some people are very ignorant and just trash the art because the lyrics weren't really 'written for them'

That song perfectly describes his struggles with addiction and depression, and foreshadows his untimely end in a way that's genuinely frightening. His album 'Swimming' (different album from the song mentioned) also encapsulates his growth mentally, and spiritually in an incredible way.

I just read your "About" page, and I have a concept album you ought to psychoanalyze - "Queen of the Murder Scene", which tells the story of a girl who goes from unrequited love to obsession, stalking, murder, and then the battle against her evil side for her soul. The band is The Warning, 3 sisters from Mexico, and the first song is 'Dust to Dust', with the live version at Lunario being an excellent choice.

"ting" is just how the word "thing" comes out with his accent. Also, the first use of "murk" should have been spelled "merc". He was referencing a two angry guys in a Mercedes. These lyric videos can be tricky if little details don't get transposed correctly. As an America I also like listening to his music with a map open to see the geography of the neighborhoods he is referencing.
