quick hint for your little challenge here - the game only truly saves once you leave the area/room (even if you save in the room itself) but it also saves small progress like the Blue Hedgehag spawn trigger so you didnt have to clear the room for each attempt but just once till the box spawns then leave the room and just go straight down
Huh, ill have to test it somewhere else. But I dont remember any other bosses having similar clear conditions. I do remember messing with saving but the way i tried (and failed) to do it was to save after clearing and reloading, which just resets the room
