Having purchased and built your centrifugal pump kit I can say that the quality of castings were extremely good. I too cast metal (Brass and aluminium) but not as well structured or organised. I don’t have to room or need to produce many castings but I love your moulding bench. Very clever. Hope you go from strength to strength!

Thank you very much. I just subscribed to your channel and seen your video on making the pump kit! Makes my day seeing that. It looks great in red like somthing from a fire engine. I think this little engine should just about run one of my pumps.

Metal is bronze? Very nice work. First time I've seen a good video on match plate patterns!

Thank you, yes metal is silcone bronze. I will add more videos on odd matchplate patterns soon.

Great video! Good job....mistakes happen all the time...you have built a system that I was thinking about doing to save time, especially the pattern ejection from the mold!

Thanks. I think the mold ejection is the best bit. Takes a lot of stress out of the job.

Don't you preheat the furnace first in order for it to get up to temperature faster?

    Great!!!
How do you maintain your oil sand?
I know, it is necessary to add glycerin there. he burns out.
But what about the clay (or the binder that this sand has)?
How many casting cycles can this sand be used before it becomes completely unusable?
    Thank you!!!

Hi, thanks, i just add a little bit of oil when mulling it, i use classic car engine oil.
It does get burnt out eventually and i buy maybe 3 new 25kg bags each year and just add some new to the mix when it gets less sticky. My sytem holds around 80kg of sand
I would guess i get around 100 molds from a batch before it needs some new adding.

@@cringleengineering7688 Thank you! Do you mainly cast bronze?
Aluminum has a lower melting temperature and this may slightly extend the life of oil sand.
But adding new oil sand will not work indefinitely.
Sometime still have to throw away the entire sand because the overall wear will be quite large.
I was hoping to find out how many kilograms of aluminum castings can be produced with For example 100 kg + 30 kg. new sand additions before it becomes completely useless.
calculate the consumption of oil sand for the business plan (XX kg of oil sand /&/ XX kg aluminum castings)

@@sv15215 i do try and remove the most burnt bits that stick to the castings that gets brushed onto the floor and with some other losses the sand needs topping up and if it becomes so burnt out i can remove a little and add fresh. I find that the fresh oil sand is hard to work so its best for me to mix it with some old.
I would guess i make over 1000 castings a year mostly aluminium and require 2 or 3 bags of new sand. This works well for my needs and i find the cost os well worth the effort saved using regular green sand.

      @@cringleengineering7688 I seem to understand :)))
It looks like your castings are between 1 and 3 kg. each.
on average, can say 2 kg.
2 kg. x 1000= 2000 kg of products versus 75-100 kg. oil sand.
If the calculations are correct, then this is an excellent result. Otherwise waste disposal is incredibly expensive.
      Thank you!
