He knew he was dying, but he still stood up there and delivered rock and roll! He got confused but carried on, the band went along and helped him through, he looked at the crowd like, this is what im meant to do! The greatest frontman ive ever seen, Rest in peace Lemmy.
You don't find that these days the pop stars get a cold and cancel the show you get people like Lemmy who is dying up on stage you still get a show and your money's worth. I was singing in my high school AC/DC tribute band and was on my second day of the flu and I still sang ,although I had to throw up after every two songs.
I’m not sure I have the words for it. Lemmy had to cancel some shows, but NOTHING would stop him from playing. I was hoping he would stop playing and rest. But he didn’t, and that’s part of why I admire him so much. He went out on his own terms.
Breaks my heart to watch, but at the same time, it shows how BADASS Lemmy was. Very sick, on medication, but still kicking ass better than most musicians half his age. Rest In Peace Dear Sir..❤️🤘🏼
Watching this tonight has made me feel very emotional. The legend was on his last legs but still put on a show. It must have been difficult for all, knowing it was coming to an end. I miss Motorhead.
I was there I have micky Dees drum stick on my wall to this day. I remember catching it and being bundled on by what felt like 1000 people and running with it back to my tent like I'd just got a golden ticket to Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. Ill remember this day forever. Long live Lemmy! long live Motorhead!
Lemmy's last UK gig. That final shot of him alone on stage looking out is both haunting and emotional, got it as my screen saver. Great gig, but tinged with sadness.
I genuinely don't know what I would've done if I were in Campbell or Dee's shoes during that rendition of Overkill. The set would've ended in complete disaster if those two weren't able to work around Lemmy's inconsistent timing and incorrect lyrics, he was clearly in no condition to sing by that point. Lemmy led that band (and everyone who ever played in it) very well for 40 years and in a moment where he wasn't capable of doing so, it's nice to see that his bandmates were able to step up. It's the mark of true professionals
Such a fascinating performance. Motörhead doing an afternoon set at a somewhat pretentious music festival and trying to win them over while also trying to keep their own act together as Lemmy's body and mind fails him in his final months. Not a lot of crowds Motörhead had to "win over" but this was one of them. "Don't forget us. We are Motörhead and we play fuckin' Rock n' Roll." We won't forget you Lemmy.
Glastonbury is not a pretentious festival, everyone who goes is a music devotee. Artists cant get their own audience there, they play to whomever turns up, but the audience always has goodwill and its the same for every act big or small. RIP Lemmy.
