If you want to know the measure of a country, how it is seen through the eyes of an immigrant is very valuable. People tend to be very myopic when it comes to the familiar, the known. We may have no idea the flaws of our family until pointed out by a new partner from outside. We may know little of ourselves, until illuminated by a friend.
Immigrants chose to join a new national family, they aren't there just by accident of birth. The reasons for that choice tells a lot about the family they join.

@@bookgirlny8511 I haven't read any books on it, no. I do however read articles featuring both sides of the CRT argument. While I do agree with some of the claims of CRT, I do not agree with how the CRT framework, language and beliefs are being used to forward an agenda. Something can be neutral in theory, but be poisonous in practice- just my 2 cents.

I'm honestly mystified by this comment. Is it possible y'all pay more attention to current events during election years? How did you miss the 2014/2015 protests for Eric Garner who was choked to death in NYC, or the protests in 2014/2015 when 12 yr old Tamir Rice was shot to death in a park, or the 2014 protests when John Crawford was shot down in a Walmart, or the 2019 protests when Atatiana Jefferson was killed in her own home, or the 2015 march for the victims of the Emmanuel AME church massacre in Charleston, or the protests in 2018 when Botham Jean was killed in his own home, or the protests from this year during the trial of Derek Chauvin in March for suffocating George Floyd, or the killing of Daunte Wright in April because a police officer "mistook" a taser for a gun?

Loved your discussion on positive stereotypes which nobody really thinks about let alone talks about. Someone who always referred to the negative stereotypes was a comedian by the name of Ralphy May. In his routine titled Just Correct he did a bit about many of the negative stereotypes about black people and then the same about Hispanics ( specifically Mexican's ). During the early part of that show which they recorded, he talked about the bad credit. He said he had some black blood in him, but he did not get the big dick, he only got bad credit. He said it was either the big dick or bad credit and he got the bad credit, that and a couple of sickle cells. Ralphy was an equal opportunity offender when it came to humor, sadly he passed away a couple of years ago.
My point is even for the purpose of humor all that ever gets discussed is the negative stereotypes, but it was very nice to hear your discussion about positive stereotypes

Coca-Cola had "Diversity training" for their employees. One of the "Lessons" , said that employees needed to "be less White". Being "less White", meant being Less Certain", "Less oppressive"," less arrogant", " be More humble" " less Defensive" ( I assume that meant that if you were being accused of being racist, and denied it, you were being "Defensive", which only PROVED that you were, in fact racist), "Listen" ( assuming that Whites NEVER listen), "Believe" ( because, if you're White, you're not allowed to question ANYTHING you're told), and to "Break with White solidarity". Imagine telling people of Color this... " Be less 'Black"..., or "Be less 'Brown"...
