the cut test data would not hold up to empirical scrutiny. there is way too much variance in the way the rope was cut with each sword to consider it to be a valid method in a controlled experiment....
the ewart-park test was done with a sleeveless t-shirt and the wilburton was tested with sleeves still attached.
it has been scientifically proven that removing the sleeves from the t shirt that you are wearing will increase all attributes by +25.
i suggest you redo the tests of each sword, both with and without sleeves.

If it is thick in the middoe and heavier, the Willburton should better wisthstand abuse into thrusting into something rigid, like heavy gambeson, thick hardened leather, or a shield.

If the originals were circular, and were hard/not comfotable to cast with, then why would you reshape the pommel and work around its design? I could be wrong, ive never owned a bronze age sword, but it seems like they have a circular pommel specifically because they dont want you to over extend your arm/wrist.

+vShoTzZ25 They were not all hilted the same what so ever Neil uses a Generic he puts on all his works unless you request it un-hilted and do it yourself which he does reccomend not being a wood worker. Many had tea cosy style pummels even at that time period the leaf shape blade is perfect for axe like use and the cast blow so may have a oval or flat pommel not a disc. The generic he sends is a disc which works better on the Naue II style.

I would honestly really like to see one of these bronze swords compared to a $10 walmart machete. It would be interesting to see if the cheapest steel blades today are better or worse then a bronze blade.

  • @xPumaFangx

From my first look in this video. I swear I thought they where the same blade. Then looking at the handle I saw that they had a differnt shape in the guard. From the blade shape I didnt really notice till the end where I saw that the blades where different just simular.

I think the origin of components in the alloy might have something to do with the blade thickness. All the same proportions but with copper from say Spain as opposed to say Ireland could give different results. One maybe more bendable than the other whilst still be able to be work hardened to a similarly sharp edge. Bronze sword making is more chemistry than skill with a hammer. I'm a Neil Bridge fan you can see him at work here th-cam.com/video/pnowp48yWIc/w-d-xo.html

At first I only noticed a difference in guards until you showed blade thickness. Wow, the early British had no creativity (I'm joking of course).
