- "What I Did For Love," a song written by Marvin Hamlish (music) and Edward Kleban (lyrics) is a very powerful song that was part of one of the greatest musical plays in the history of Broadway, "A Chorus Line." The song was included in my 1977 "Miracles" LP with a very special arrangement made by Jeff Sturges, while this video is part of the 1992 "Blazing a Silver Trail" recorded at the Los Angeles Greek Theater under the direction of my son Scott B. Dorsey.

Originally a Jack Jones hit in 1974-75.....I hadn't heard Engelbert's great version of this classic song....it's a definite Oh Wow!!!! Wonderful. I've seen him live and he is AWESOME!!! FIrst heard his music when I was a teenager. Enjoyed him ever since. Even played his music on the radio!!

I have commented before on his performance of this song. Once is not enough when it comes to Engelbert Humperdinck. The 110% effort that he puts into every song he has recorded especially "live", has always placed him in a league of his own. This song is a perfect example of that. 🌹

Totally agree with you maillaarni. There is absolutely nobody that can hold a candle to him, nobody. Never has been either. I've seen him in Vegas a few times and you could hear a pin drop. Everyone was so intent on listening to him. The smoothness, ease, and breathtakingly beautiful voice that he has can just put me in another world when I listen to him. It's such a shame that the last couple generations don't know his name, let alone his voice. What a sorry state of things out there.
