Hritam Kalita, thank you so much for your comment. It is always really encouraging to hear that people are enjoying our videos. It is very kind of you to say that!
Hi Luis, Thanks a lot for your comment. Really glad to hear you liked our video and our end comments. Hope you can find some other videos on our channel that you like too. Cheers!
Yeah, Glai was pretty determined this time and completely outplayed me... Glad you enjoyed the video Sir B! ...and the t-shirt! I thought it was time for it to make a reappearance! haha
Hi Pat & Glai great video once again. Thank you for this wonderfully clear and enjoyable playthrough. You guys seem like great gaming partners. I’m glad I managed to get hold of this expansion a while back. I do wonder: Farmers of the Moor has received some critizisim on horses being overpowered (not to take away from Glais victory there ✌️) , and sure enough there was a huge horse engine in this game. Do you think that it is possible to compete with someone who is going for horses heavily? What alternatives would to competing player have? Regardless keep up the wonderful work guys!
Hi Tim. Really glad you enjoyed our playthrough. It's great that you managed to get a hold of this expansion because it really does add a lot to the game. We had a lot of fun with it. Horses are indeed pretty powerful but there are many paths to victory in Agricola. I think you would have to make sure that one player does not run away with all of the horses, but a lot of that is about timing too because you need to make sure you have enough food to feed your family, as well as grow your family for extra workers, etc. Occupations and improvements will often shape your strategy in the game too, so I don't think there is one way to guarantee victory.
I like the expansion over the base game. The free actions and starting spaces on the player board are extremely helpful. Also I think it fixes a problem in the base game. In our games usually the first to build rooms gets extra workers (to get extra actions to run away with the game). But when you have to heat the extra rooms it’s less tempting to go down that strategy. Also bed rest for not heating isn’t as bad as begging. Great video, I miss playing.
Hi James. Thanks for the comment. We're delighted you liked the video. Farmers of the Moor really does add a lot to the game. The free action cards do add a lot of strategy to the game and you are often faced with tough choices such as whether to grab a load of wood or to get a free action. Also, the forests and moors on the farm spaces mean you have to be strategic on what spaces to clear for making pastures and sowing crops. Having to take into account heating the house certainly does make you think twice about extending it! The expansion makes a great game even better!
I am so glad you played this! I bought this expansion a couple of months ago but the instructions were a little confusing. Your play through made it clear. Congratulations, Glai. Great game, Pat. I enjoy your videos!
Hi Mrs. Jackson! We're delighted we were able to help you understand the expansion. It really adds a lot to the game - it's a lot more difficult to lay out your farmyard, and the new special ability cards always give you a tough choice between getting a free action or being first to grab all that lovely wood... Thanks again for your encouragement. We love reading your comments!
Great video! There were a couple of things I noted about the rules. Glai had 4 horses in the pasture but did not have a stable on that pasture. And Pat did not utilize his Master Workman when taking any of the Round 1, 2, 3 & 4 action card spaces.
Hi Richard. We're glad you liked the video. Thanks a lot for your comment. I (Pat) guess I forgot about the Master Workman completely, so that was a bit of a waste... As for Glai's horses, can you please give me a timecode as to where you mean? I was checking and she builds stables in 2 pastures at 19:53. Was there somewhere else she had too many horses? Cheers!
@@AllAboardBoardgames at 42:55 she adds a horse to the pasture nearest to her, for a total of 6 horses in that double-pasture. (The pasture with the stable in that double-pasture can hold 4 horses; the other can hold only 2). At 47:22 she adds another horse to the non-stabled pasture, which goes against the rules.
@@richardblack3025 Hi again Richard! At 42:55, this is a large pasture - there are 2 spaces enclosed with the fences, but it is not split by fences so it counts as just 1 pasture. Normally this could hold 4 animals, but as this also has a stable, the capacity is increased to 8. If she had placed another fence to split this pasture in two, then the small pasture with the stable could hold 4 animals and the other one would only be able to hold 2. But as it is a large pasture with a stable, it can hold 8. When she adds the horse at 47:20 this is still ok as it brings up the total number of horses to 7. Hope this helps!
@@AllAboardBoardgames Thank you for that explanation. I was not reading the rules correctly. I thought it was, “maximum of two animals per farm space, maximum of four animals per stabled farm space”. But now realize that it’s: “stables double the maximum animals per pasture, not doubles the maximum animals per fenced farm space”. Thank you for clarifying that.
Waiting for my copy of Agricola, so I am watching you guys to wet my appetite. Watched both Agricola vids back to back and like the multiple camera angles. Howdy Ken! Yes, we really like this expansion too. It adds a whole new dimension to what is already a great game. As far as I know there are no other major expansions. There are extra cards that you can get in a separate pack but nothing game-changing. Thanks bushibayushi! Glad you enjoyed it. It was a tough starting position indeed for Glai when her house was completely surrounded with forest, but she did very well nevertheless.
Hi Efrain. It would be nice to add more music and sound effects to our videos. Min Jung, thanks for that. I did think that it was only for a single use, but as you say, it did not have a "1x" on the card. I would be interested in hearing your strategies on using Majors. When do you use them and what other options do you sacrifice to play them?
@@AllAboardBoardgames For FotM you cannot generalize that much, it depends on the situation. The Well and Church are always good (you should't do that too late as the 5 food would be wasted) and additional food resources to not have to use important actions on just getting food (5 food fishing is good though). For that you can either plant grain (as you did) and quickly build an oven (Clay Oven gives you 5f for 1 grain), or you can automaticly get a little support from every guild (Joinery, Pottery, BMW) each harvest. Getting just a single horse often is important, because it improves some cards like the Peat Charcoal Kiln and the Forester’s Lodge. In Glais's case the Lodge would be a good choice as her house was surrounded by forests. After that Riding Stables, which is similar to the Well and nets much food. The Kiln sometimes gives you enough fuel for the whole game, but can also be used to get more points with Church. Beneath the ovens there are additional ovens, that can completely solve you heating issues. The Slaughterhouses for me are not much more than just points, and Cookhouses are only useful if you don't car for horses (e.g. not enough space). Furniture, Ceramics and Basket Stall could help, if you have many resources, but an opponent grabs the guild you wanted. Then you can change into another guild.
