Kyla is the Philippines' Queen of R&B. She has been in the industry since 2000. When it comes to agility, riffs and runs, melismas and shifting of notes, she is the best in the Philippines or even in Asia. She may look very young but believe it or not she will be turning 40 on January 5.

Loooove this reaction. Very insightful. Kyla is well-known in the Philippines as the Queen of R&B, and she’s been in the industry for 20 years now. She has her own TH-cam channel too where she does her own songs and covers as well. Hope you could check it out :) If you want something raw, check out her original song “Beautiful Days” which she recorded at home. It’s very raw, no audio enhancements at all.

He did say that he enjoyed doing/producing this cover the most. And why wouldn't he - Kyla is the queen of Philippine R&B, whom he holds in high regard.
Another cover that he clearly enjoyed doing is the one with the king of Philippine R&B - Jay R - where Daryl strung together two of Jay R's original songs - *'BAKIT PA BA/SA KABILANG DAKO'* .

OMG! Yes, thank you so much. I have been waiting for this. I actually cried (tears of joy ) the first time i heard it. Kyla is the perfect female partner for Daryl when it comes to RNB. It sound like they both have perfect pitch for that. As I understand it, as long as you can reproduce a sequence of notes all belonging to the same chord and progression, you could overboard with notes. It is just like jazz.
A lot of musicians (reactors and fans) are actually amazed that Daryl easily goes into the blues chords, which is identified with jazz. :)

I was curious about Daryl's jazz influence since I think he may have listened to a little George Benson when he was growing up. But his major Filipino influence/idol was/still is Gary Valenciano, who was influenced by Al Jarreau.

I could be wrong, but I might think, Bobby is the sound engineer/mixer. The layered harmonies are great and they blend together great. This might have been done at Bobby's recording studio......since it looks different from Daryl's like the One Sweet Day was.

Now, regarding the arrangement, as this song has been turned on its head thanks mainly to the vocal lines, me commenting on what they are doing, structure wise, *is* a comment on the arrangement. There are too many to quote, but here’s a few for your reading pleasure:
“This song really can accommodate quite a lot of riffs, I didn’t know it could accommodate this many.
Here was me thinking they were gonna straight tone that at the end, you fool (me) why would they do that?
I think Daryl Likes the song weak as much as I do because the joy coming off of him, and just seeing him during this process (recording the song) was crazy.” - Me, in this video.
Last point, a vocal coach comments on vocals, so I’m not sure why you’ve chosen to take a swipe at me, as I commented a ton on what they were doing vocally, as is my job.

This is just riffs and runs overload for me. Not really my type but definitely good. There's so much going on and I just cant keep up and appreciate the arrangement. Again, this is just a personal preference, dont come for my neck. Nevertheless, Daryl and Kyla was able to deliver. 💯
