Kyla is the Philippines' Queen of R&B. She has been in the industry since 2000. When it comes to agility, riffs and runs, melismas and shifting of notes, she is the best in the Philippines or even in Asia. She may look very young but believe it or not she will be turning 40 on January 5.
Wooohh! I love your reaction to this. I love listening to riffs and runs, as long as they are properly placed and they both did just that. They did justice to the song. I love them both. Very talented artists, but underrated. They need to shine more. Thank you so much for this most awaited reaction. God bless.
Loooove this reaction. Very insightful. Kyla is well-known in the Philippines as the Queen of R&B, and she’s been in the industry for 20 years now. She has her own TH-cam channel too where she does her own songs and covers as well. Hope you could check it out :) If you want something raw, check out her original song “Beautiful Days” which she recorded at home. It’s very raw, no audio enhancements at all.
I love this marathon by Kyla and Daryl.. happy to see you enjoy it too, Coach. Kyla has been around for more than a decade already and the best in her genre. Stay safe and healthy!
The "Riff-iest" Version of this song "Weak". Lol I missed the facial reactions of Sam Scott-Thorne. I am truly enjoying this VLOG. Let me rewind. Insane indeed.
You've got an interesting way of describing what they're doing with their voices - it's entertaining. :) Yes, you're right - about Daryl enjoying this. He did say that he enjoyed doing/producing this cover the most. And why wouldn't he - Kyla is the queen of Philippine R&B, whom he holds in high regard. Another cover that he clearly enjoyed doing is the one with the king of Philippine R&B - Jay R - where Daryl strung together two of Jay R's original songs - *'BAKIT PA BA/SA KABILANG DAKO'* .
13:39 Hehe. Yes, I've watched other reactors found it "too much." But still, most considered it to be in a good way--and I am on their side and I enjoyed Daryl and Kyla's superhero level riffs....alwayskeeps me smiling with a wide open mouth. 🤓
My first time to comment here, And I'm already a fan of yours. I like the way you react to our Pilipino singer. More reacting please and thank you. Stay safe and God bless you always sir. 🙏🙏🙏.
...gosh love when you say Glasgow lol ....love the accent ^^ Such a beautiful song and these guys can sing a phonebook! Their voices harmonies and all the runs makes the goosebumps run ...up and down! ^^ Thanks a lot for another great reaction!! :)
OMG! Yes, thank you so much. I have been waiting for this. I actually cried (tears of joy ) the first time i heard it. Kyla is the perfect female partner for Daryl when it comes to RNB. I hope you can also do a reaction to MULI by Daryl and Katrina V. It’s on their individual YT channel ( Daryl Ong Official and Katrina Velarde). It’s a Filipino song and originally sang by Gary Valenciano and Regine Velasquez. Thanks..
I could be wrong, but I might think, Bobby is the sound engineer/mixer. The layered harmonies are great and they blend together great. This might have been done at Bobby's recording studio......since it looks different from Daryl's like the One Sweet Day was.
I love watching your reaction videos... You are also sincere and genuine ...hopefully you could also react to daryl ong and morisette amon's cover of "you are the reason" by caloum scott. I was trying to look in your compilation but i can't seem to find it..😍
Hello ! Been watching your reactions and I find you funny 😁... you're so good at reacting and I like that you choose to react to singers from the Philippines. 👍🏻
It sound like they both have perfect pitch for that. As I understand it, as long as you can reproduce a sequence of notes all belonging to the same chord and progression, you could overboard with notes. It is just like jazz.
@@TDLTDL100 it is funny how Europeans never stopped listening to jazz but Americans did. Oh, old school jazz, Hoagy Carmichael wrote the song Stardust, John Coltrane did my favourite interpretation of it in 1963, m.th-cam.com/video/KbFtzeOju3A/w-d-xo.html
@@Paul_C Thanks for the link! Don't the folks in New Orleans listen to jazz anymore (since I always associate NO with Louis Armstrong)? I was curious about Daryl's jazz influence since I think he may have listened to a little George Benson when he was growing up. But his major Filipino influence/idol was/still is Gary Valenciano, who was influenced by Al Jarreau.
@@TDLTDL100 the age of that song is incredible, it is 93 years old. Though the lyrics were penned down two years later. Willie Nelson did a my favourite vocal version th-cam.com/video/Hf5UvKjCDUU/w-d-xo.html
Without reading the Title, just by seeing their picture from the thumbnail, I thought it was their cover of Secret Love Song that you're going to react. 😅 Well, Daryl was singing with the Philippines Queen of RnB. So, yeah, it was a joy for him to sing with one of his idols.
Its very interesting when you get technical while reacting to this video. Really shows that you love your profession so much. I support you Coach!!!❤ p.s. It does make sense coach. HAHAHAHAA
Not a mention? “The backing vocals that they’ve laid down here are deeeeeelicious! But they are amazing, they kind of swell up from nowhere and then just vanish, it’s amazing. Just the perfect push for these vocals, insane, very very good”. - Me, in this video. Now, regarding the arrangement, as this song has been turned on its head thanks mainly to the vocal lines, me commenting on what they are doing, structure wise, *is* a comment on the arrangement. There are too many to quote, but here’s a few for your reading pleasure: “This song really can accommodate quite a lot of riffs, I didn’t know it could accommodate this many. Here was me thinking they were gonna straight tone that at the end, you fool (me) why would they do that? I think Daryl Likes the song weak as much as I do because the joy coming off of him, and just seeing him during this process (recording the song) was crazy.” - Me, in this video. Last point, a vocal coach comments on vocals, so I’m not sure why you’ve chosen to take a swipe at me, as I commented a ton on what they were doing vocally, as is my job. So, am I a Vocal Coach? Hmmmm…. AYE! I am as it happens! Have a great weekend 😊
This is just riffs and runs overload for me. Not really my type but definitely good. There's so much going on and I just cant keep up and appreciate the arrangement. Again, this is just a personal preference, dont come for my neck. Nevertheless, Daryl and Kyla was able to deliver. 💯
Great job reacting to the video, I enjoyed it! Please react to another Katrina Velarde video, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow or Whitney Houston Medley. Thank you!

Actually kyla is known for "Queen of RNB" in the Philippines ❤
Daryl Ong got his own style that make him recognize easily.. his uniqueness stands every performances he made..
Im here for Queen of RnB Kyla 😍
thanks for very infomative and Cute reactions. Loveyou always
“Kyla moves through registers just effortlessly.” Hence the Queen of R&B herself. Btw, the backing vocals were Kyla’s.
In the description box of the video: backing vocals are by Yosha Honasan and Daryl. Someone said that that Yosha is Kyla's best friend.
@@TDLTDL100 Yea I just read about it, nice work.
Thanks so much for another Daryl Ong's reaction!!!❤️
What a teRIFFic performance!! Amazing!!
I call this cover a Marathon because of its riffs and runs galore. I love it..💙
yup.the two went crazy. so.darn goooood!
"she moves through her register effortlessly" - pure skills. Kyla is the most underrated singer in PH but probably one of the most skilled.
Yes I adore this song too! That was my jam back in the day.
Their voices and your reaction give me goosebumps 🥰🥰🥰
So many GODLIKE riffs in 1 song..

Two decades in the industry girl. 😊 I super love Kyla. ❤️❤️
Kyla is the queen of RnB in the Philippines. She's expert about runs and riffs.
Queen of R&B

Daryl was the king of riffs and runs while kyla is the Queen of RnB in the Philippines. So don't be surprised if they're too good lmao
Actually si Jay-R ang king of RnB nang Pinas ..
@@elikarty3126 i know, did i even said that Daryl was? That's why I've mentioned king of rifs and runs not the king of RnB lmao
It’s fun to watch them and you reacting to it.
Awesome reaction and analysis you really know your stuff! Keep up the great work. Fun song!
oh!if daryl is a king of riffs...and thier u goes the queen of riffs hehehe☺️☺️☺️☺️love them both as much as i love u😘❤

@@TDLTDL100 I agree with you.. This is the best cover I've heard of this song. They are both gems..

A lot of musicians (reactors and fans) are actually amazed that Daryl easily goes into the blues chords, which is identified with jazz. :)
