It's the old guy who's the first to get up and arrange emergency evacuation. That's what's so powerful about that scene. "Fear the old man in a profession where men die young"...
This and the most recent MW do the best "combat dialogue" in any video game, IMO. They say almost nothing unless it is absolutely essential. It irritates me so much when NPC allies in other games shout *exactly* what they're doing every six seconds-jars me out of the moment every time. Dialogue-wise, this is damned near perfect. I think the safehouse raid IS perfect.
Not to mention that they're actually doing things too, they're killing enemies, because you're on a *team* not fighting alone. A lot of "modern" games don't have the smartest friendly AI.
You don't see the impact these days so much since every major game that comes out is a third-person or FPS, but the series going from WWII straight to Modern Warfare, was a biggg deal about a decade ago. War games were still an underdog genre
Ghost recon, hidden and dangerous, rainbow 6 ,operation flashpoint and many others were doing it before COD ,COD was the underdog ,definitely not war games . @@tobe1207
The fact that this is the first mission and it already gives you final mission vibes during the end makes the og trilogy look look like it was sebt from the gods
The line "crew expendable" perfectly establishes the Modern Warfare trilogy, especially with Price's dismissive tone and the fact the crew is killed first. The good guys get up to a lot of morally questionable acts because, as is shown in the next couple of missions, the bad guys are absolutely ruthless.
Something I don't get... they landed at the bridge, fought over deck to the bow, then fought below decks back to the stern, then escaped on the catwalk towards the bow, and the helo evaced them... off the bridge?

Striking under the storm... We will take the ship by the storm. By the time we're done. No one will ever know where we came from. (Wrote a poem to this mission.)
The irony is, in real life the SAS wouldn't do this type of op. The SBS would. Probably the only occasion in the world when there's someone better than the SAS for the task in hand.

Nobody ever looks up. Especially in a rain storm. It does kind of make you think what the plan would have been if they didn't have the cover of the storm to perform this insertion. In reality they should have sent the Navy to deal with this. They may have even avoided the unfortunate incident of a Russian fighter jet sinking the ship if they did.
one thing I don't get is why the helicopter is American, especially the normal helicopter used by the SAS/SBS are Merlin's, Wildcats and Lynx's, that are all better suited for this mission. and the SAS/SBS almost always work independently of any other nation than Britain.

@@gstakktransport5227 When this mission was created in 2007, all UKSF would've been counter terror, but nowadays they aren't trained to do so as it's the police who do that nowadays, and I don't think this would be classified as a CT mission as its abroad.
@@CancerGaming56 You do have a point, now that I think about it this game was made in 2007 so that makes perfect sense, although I believe extraction of terrorist material is sometimes classified as CT. Again, not too sure. I think the main reason that SBS wasn’t in charge was because, yes, they are a naval based UKSF group but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they handle everything naval-related. Maybe not by the UK because of the SB/AS secrecy but I’m sure there’s examples on TH-cam of something like this happening, where the army takes charge of a naval technically naval mission.
