I'm almost 27 and I was 100% for sure that TLoZ BotW&MM3D would stay my all-time favorite. Then I played the Ori Series and man... Idk any game that made me THAT emotional. All the epic escapes, the graphics, the soundtracks, the smooth gameplay and last but not least the STORY! If someone told me before to play a story game I wouldve laughed at him and say: hell no But dude THIS GAME? A Masterpiece. My new all-time favorite (both together).
I was... very surprised with the ending. It's refreshing to play a game where every character is good-hearted. Even Kuro. Yes, she wanted the world to burn, but she was mad with grief because that idiot light killed her children, so it was, really, some kind of revenge, killing those she saw as her babies' murderers. Finally, it feels gratifying to be friends with the long-legged creature, you really feel the effects of kindness, friendship and compassion. Ori doesn't even question offering help. A work of art. Not my personal coup de coeur, but it's definitely got the material for other people with other preferences to adore.
Escaping that bloody spiky tree with the rising water required precision button pressing. I died so many time but this music didn't stop, it kept going, spurring me on. I cried to the gods help me with this life but they didn't they just kept saying keep going you'll see when you get there. It was amazing. I love it really. Thank you.
This game needs more advertising, is the best game I ever played, not even Zelda is as good as Ori and it sequel. If Red Dead Redemption, The Witcher 3 and The Last Of Us have good stories this game has a deeper story, the script is awesome, it breaks you but still remains hope at the end. People need more messages like this. The Art is outstanding, the color palette and the landscapes are astonishing. I have not played an excellent game like this for many years.
If you liked Ori (especially Will O’ the Wisps) may I recommend Hollow Knight? They both have beautiful distinct art styles and fantastic world design that hooks you into exploring. Hollow Knight is more focused on combat than Ori is and is harder, but it really captures that spirit of discovery and wonder like Ori does. It’s my favourite game, with Ori in a close second.
I really love this game, everything of it: the plot, the story of the characters, the ambience so various and gorgeous and the music....oh the music!!!
That ending with Kuro killed me. Her seeing the flashback of her dead babies.. man. And the very end with the egg hatching was so amazing. “We named her Ku” 🥺
It's good you got till the end sequence. The intro was enough to do it for me - and when a game succeeds to do that in the first minutes it's an obvious "great choice" for me.
@@yellowbanana90 yeah both games are top notch. I beat the sequel a while back as well and I’m still thinking about the ending. Video games are truly art.
Of course they did, she saved their asses from the evil baby-murdering light, and they adopted her daughter. It would be kinda rude not to add her after that :D
Ori wanted to remember her sacrifice and I also love how he included Sein in the mural, to me it means that both Sein and Kuro are part of Ori's family no matter where they are
One of my favorite aspects of this game is that the combat was super unimportant. I did the entire run without spending a single point in any offensive ability. I haven't played the sequel but I hope that's still the case.
I'm afraid the second game is not what you hoped, the combat is not as simple as clicking mouse button but the whole mechanics, characters, and skills are more rich in second game. I really hope you would play the second game because it is worth it
The Definitive Edition has some really cool behind-the-scenes footage and concept sheets. It looks like at one moment of the development of the game, the developers considered ending the final escape sequence with Ori tricking Kuro into getting trapped in what seems to be a giant cage. Makes you think would much the story changed during development.

This is from the incredible metroidvania platformer game, Ori and the blind forest which I highly recommend playing as it has some of the best music and incredible storytelling I've ever experienced in all my time playing video games. The name of this track is light of Nibel
Achievement Unlocked: Run for your life
Me: ???
Also me as the water starts hitting : OH SNAP RUN ORI RUN!

Ori is too great to die
Me: "Wait, is this even dangerous? I thought Ori can swim"
*water kills you anyway*
Me: "Oh, okay then,"

Why did you say “bloody” that tree isn’t bloody!
It's an English colloquialism used in lieu of a curse word.
The story, gameplay and the music is just amazing for this game.

yes, ori is the best game in existance. It is my absolute favourite game, and no words can describe just how amazing it is.

The “We named her Ku” part was ruined for me cause in my native language Ku means ass, so yeah...
Maybe they named her Ku because that’s the first sound she made
I love this song
Absolute perfection. Excellent job. I loved it
Why does this game have such a kickass soundtrack? XD

The 3 people who disliked this have never played the game and have poor taste in real musical talent. I feel sorry for them.

Kuro would've been an insane boss if we could fight her
nah man... it would destroy the story
@Alberto Gómez Manjarrez you don't fight her
We have Shriek for that.
there is an evolution int he game though as Ori "grows" up - first boss in an escape, the second in the sequel is a fight
