In Jamaica, my mom just put some dirt from outside, and all her plants live beautiful lives. In America, I am killing myself to grow a pothos alive with all these fancy soils 😂😂😂...
Seriously thank you for explaining how to pick a right sized vessel for your plant. Always wondered what size i need and now i know its just a matter of measuring. Couldnt find that out for the longest time
Some plants like different things though. Like monstera's love to be root bound. Like everything else with plants, it's all about researching what the individual plant likes. But this is a good rule of thumb because most plants like a pot that is just an inch or so bigger than the root ball
I bought that same pot at Walmart. Boho. I don’t plant in my pots, I keep my plants in nursery pots, then in the decorative pots. It’s easier to water and repot when they out grow.
Yes! Absolutely the best way to keep plants. Also, you can more easily hold the plant (in the nursery pot) and feel the weight to tell whether it needs to be watered.
I love calatheas (this one is a rattlesnake calathea) but they need very well draining soil and a lot of ambient humidity. Unless you live in a rainforest or have a humidifier, they do best in a terrarium! I'm assuming Calathea soil is similar to an ABG mix. My calatheas do very well in ABG (meant to mimic a jungle floor), as well as tropical houseplants in general! This is my easy abg mix that I use for my tropical houseplants (it's not real abg but it works really well for me): 3 parts potting soil 1 part spaghnum moss (I use unmilled) 1 part orchid bark or compressed coco chips (or perlite) Basically you want soil that will be slightly acidic and chunky enough to drain well and aerate the roots, while also being able to hold on to some moisture. I find most tropical plants do well if you water them thoroughly, then let the top 1-2 inches dry before watering them again. I use rainwater, but you can also leave tapwater out for a few hours to let the chlorine dissipate before you use it.
Oh wow, my mom has that exact pot! Apparently she got it like 20 years ago (I know because I was adding new soil to her pot last week and she yelled at me about it).
Ohhh. That's what it's called. My mom has one that died and she gave it to me to bring it back to life and it's doing great now. I literally just gave it back to her.
I just added hydrogen peroxide to mine and forgot to dilute so I was freaking out,, but now seeing this I see it’s not necessary to dilute it??? Will my plant be okay then??
Hi, I love your contains !!!! Your humour (french lady loll) !!! Your team ... Cannot wait a next clip each time ... Black spots (around is yellow) on my pothos ... do we understand that it is also root rot ? Thank You
Make sure the soil is loose enough at the bottom so the drainage isnt plugged. Your best bet, however, is to put the plant in a plastic pot with good drainage (much like the one he used here) and then place THAT pot inside of your pretty decorative one
i wish more ppl made such concise and educational content as you ! all your care videos really appease my adhd lol
This! Simple, educational, no frills just facts - wish more plant channels took this approach!
I agree, I'm so glad I found this channel bc the content is educational, 💯, and simple! The videos also pleases my adhd!

The soil in the islands is rich in nutrients!
You're killing a pathos!?
I hope your plant journey gets better 😅😂
You're doing something wrong, and/or where you live is not suited to it. Too hot/cold, and/or too wet/dry.

I like how you put it back in her pot at the end and then snickered. 😊

So glad I found this channel! I’m wanting to start learning more about orchids.

Love this Chanel. It would be nice to see an update on the plants health.
I enjoy your educational information for plants. Direct and clear. Thank you.
Do you water the plant after repotting? Even if it was over watered? Or do you wait? Thank you!
Calatheas are so easy! Just treat them exactly like a fern and you're golden.
Right when I saw that 1st pot, I was clutching my pearls & knew the issue. Good lord. Great save!
Appreciate your “dry” humour…😉
When you spanked that pot, I came back to life, I mean it came back to life 🤭🤣
I did want to see, thank you.
Nice job brother man

I have one that I diluted h202, rinsed off afterwards and water prop didn't save it so I'm gonna try this. Tysm
Whats in Calathea soil??
I had that plant years ago.Very nice plant.
Good info
thank you!!!!
Use a chopstick or something like that to help pack the soil around the roots

How long do you set the peroxide before planting it again?
Calathea soil? Where at, can I buy
I just added hydrogen peroxide to mine and forgot to dilute so I was freaking out,, but now seeing this I see it’s not necessary to dilute it??? Will my plant be okay then??
Why do you leave the browned part of the leaves. They are still pulling energy from the plant?

Thank You
**Instead of sprtizing pure hydrogen peroxide, would a half hydrogen peroxide and half water soak for a hour work as well ?
How to get Christmas Cactus to bloom?
Anyone know where I can find althea soil or what the mix is?
Place it inside the bathroom for humidity 😊
It needs light tho
Nice guy
Shimmy shake!!!!!
I have a problem with over watering my calathea too..😢
calathea in full light !? I thought they hated it ? (giving cripsy leaves etc)
What do you suggest for a hibiscus with spots?
What do you do with the old soil that you remove the plant from?
What would you recommend if my repotted Pachira Aquatica is now yellowing?
Should i put a giant sequoia in the fridge to dormantize it before doing this same thing?
Is it ok to leave peroxide o the roots of an over watered Dieffenbachia and just repot into fresh soil
What size pot would you put it in if it’s 10 inches vertically but 3 inches across?
Go with the width of the plant. Sounds like a 4 inch pot would be good.
What soil are you using ?
Best part is when u spank it! Hahahaaha
How can we use those pots without killing the plant? I just bought one

Hydrogen peroxide??
yes, that what he said
Too big of a pot will cause this but I'm sure you know this 👍 😂
Got it all cleaned up wanna see?
Actually, I don't believe that's the actual plant
hes talking about the roots
Will this work for Orchids? They are so complicated. :c
