An incredible impressive build. Great work. It would be a real dream to see that ship live, maybe together with my Fairmount Alpine, but unfortunalty the Netherland are quite far away. Keep on going with that kind of work. Congratulations.
I had a short email exchange with the Dutch builder of this gigantic RC model when he still was in the planning and reference documentation acquisition phase, since this is a huge utter scratch build as everyone can realize. The owners of the original vessel, i.e. the Danish MAERSK Line, were notorious for almost never disclosing any constructional drawings of their vessels, let alone any copies of lines plans or body plans, which you need to build a fairing model hull, to aspiring model ship scratch builders, who wrote heartbreaking but seemingly unread pleas requesting copies of shipyard plans to aid their ambitious projects, unless they knew some influential person there. At that time I by chance, just for a lark, had reconstructed, from freely on the Internet available photographic footage of the original ships, a lines plan of this E-Class Ultra Large Container Ship (ULCS), of which the EMMA MAERSK, built at the already then defunct Danish Odense Staalskipsværft Lindø, purveyor for Maersk's mega ships, was the first in a series of eight vessels and then largest container ship ever built, and had posted some screen shots of my digital hull model reconstruction in a German RC model ship builders' forum, which this RC model's builder must have come past. So I was more than pleased that my work on the EMMA's hull lines hadn't been in vain and that I could provide a body plan to support the great work of this Dutch model builder, whose name, I am afraid to have to admit, I have forgotten by now. And what a great job he has accomplished! It is kind of rewarding to me that I had a tiny but vital contribution to make his ship model dream become reality.
Derek, Thanks for your comment. Yes it's scratch build. please see also: www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/bouwverslagen-schepen/176829-emma-maersk-1-65-a.html
