I made something similar almost exactly 15 years ago from a Martha Stewart recipe (although she used chocolate ganache instead of frosting). I spent several hours making these beauties for a holiday party at work the next day. I finally went to bed around 11:30pm, only to be woken at 1:13am by...wait for it...my first labor pain! Yep, there was no going to work for me that day, no work party, but I did meet my first born child just after lunch time. A day later, we came home with our baby and there on the counter were all those gingerbread cupcakes that weren't so fresh anymore. I don't think we ate any of them. BUT, now I will make them again. I can't imagine how it must feel thinking back to 4 years ago when you were just starting and you were all shy in front of the camera!! Congrats to both of you for having made it so far. I've said it again, you got that far because of your really hard work and not because of giveaways and other marketing tricks. I hope you have a lovely time this Christmas and an amazing New Year!! I made these myself this Christmas, I'm in the UK and had trouble finding Molasses so I used Treacle insted, the Cupcakes themselves and the buttercream both turned out much darker than Laura's because of this but they were wonderful, they were warm and deeply spicey, really comforting and the perfect indulgence after Christmas Dinner. Love your videos Laura.

That is a beautiful cupcake. The frosting instantly reminded of this espresso flovared frosting I made when I made coffee cupcakes. The colors are exactly the same. You definitely need to make coffee flavored cupcakes and frosting. They are delicious.
