Your mastery of post processing is something I wish I could emulate. The black and white portrait oriented photo of the dune mid way through this video is amazing.

Two things: Few people understand just how difficult it is to climb a mountain of shifting sand and 2) It's nice to know there's somebody besides me who used an expensive tripod as a hiking stick. Beautiful.

Beautiful! Thanks so much for the reminder that a sky is not always necessary in an image, I need to remember that more often when I'm out shooting and pay more attention to try and capture the details of a scene.

Really enjoying this trip to the Gobi and that second last image works really well with the ridge lines and the repeating lines and curves. I also really liked the monochrome image. Please continue showing RAW before and afters; it gives a fuller picture of what has to be done from time to time.

Exquisite photos. Thanks for showing the unprocessed images as well. Even though you had to do more processing than usual, you didn't over do it. They look like I would expect the dunes to look, only more beautiful.

Wow- those intimate pattern shots are gorgeous Adam! They look so sculptural and abstract, just beautiful. You just proved that the most important piece of equipment a photographer can have is what is inches behind the viewfinder. You gotta have that eye to compose beauties like these.

Adam... You are most fortunate to be able to immerse yourself in this part of the world. You have become masterful in light & shadow details to a point of creating symmetry in your photographs. I feel inspired to take a drive over to the Maine coast for a couple of days of shooting beach sand & perhaps some lighthouses if it presents itself.
BUT, first I have about 7 cords of firewood to buck up, split & stack for next winter after spending this winter, about (7 months) bldg a workshop & laundry room in the b/ment.
I do feel inspired to pick up the camera once again, nevertheless!
    Best,
    Bill,
    Vermont, USA... :~)

Great shots mate, there is definitely no problem with the processing you have done it think its a must, so long as it is not adding things that are not there, or composites. I have no problem with them so long as they are regarded as digital art and not landscape.

Beautiful shots, Adam! I love how you began this exactly like the trailer that just dropped for Star Wars IX. The fact that your mind works like JJ Abrams' is further evidence that you are not only a gifted photographer but also a gifted film maker and story teller. As impressed as I am by your photography...your vlogging/video skills are off the chart...especially with that drone of yours. Looking forward to the next episode!

Great shots all but my fav was the one at 11:37 of the dunes. I've been to White Sands Nat Monument in New Mexico and Great Sand Dunes NP in Colorado but they were not nearly as huge as the Gobi Desert. Amazing place. And your processing was spot on!

On the beach beside my home I have a sand dune to walk up onto to the grassy top then walk home. Its only 20 foot high at a slant but I always struggle (I really have to get fit lol) . Just watching you at the start climbing the highest dune, that is tough to walk on loose sand uphill. Credit to you for going for it. Amazing footage and images as always. Thank you for sharing.

Pretty amazing images there Adam. I love the way the crests of the dunes have those wind-scalloped edges. That alone makes for a wonderful detail image. I do agree that the crest image is a highlight but I was also quite taken with the very first square image you shared. I also wanted to comment on the split second sunrise over your shoulder as you were hiking up the dune in the very beginning. The muted tones of the light caused by blowing sand really make these images soft and beautiful.

I love photographing dunes - just not the process of cleaning your lens and tripod afterwards!
When traversing big dunefields like this I find it helps to use trekking poles with snow baskets on them, and carry my tripod strapped to my backpack.
