Both are good. Their use depends on what the music demands. For faster-paced music, seamless staccatos and quicker responsiveness, I would choose #2. For slower, moodier pieces, #1 because it is inert but rich. This is why serious saxophone music players must have many tools in their pockets: different reeds, mouthpieces and necks (crooks).
