After almost 40 years obsensioned to speed, pyrotechnic and shredder guitar style, it's time for me to turn down the tension. You're my new guitar hero.
Nick Johnston was a real discovery for me, one of the best artists of prog-rock! I like his creativity and versatility, the perfect combination of technique and melody! music for the soul… Awesome!
Great to see behind the scenes - your music always strikes me as very "cinematic" - soundtracks for movies that don't exist (yet). I'm guessing you listened to a lot of Pat Metheny? Maybe? I hear a lot of him in your chord progressions - also a bit of Steven Wilson. Can't wait to hear more.
Sou Brasileiro🇧🇷 Escuto muito suas músicas, você é sensacional, minha inspiração para tocar guitarra Eu te agradeço por tudo o que você faz Nick Johnston é sensacional
Nick, always love your stuff. Music creation seems like alchemy to me, a complete mystery. But this does help me to understand why I like what I like. Third version got me. A bit ethereal, Tangerine Dream?, quite enigmatic. Something good there.
that video was stunning! i totally love these style of videos and just hearing you talk about all the things that inspire you, you're observing, talking to friends and your thoughts on creating music in general. can't wait for more content like this, just really inspiring, nick!
That first version of the bridge was definitely the best. Loved the synth in the background and also how it broke down and the guitar came in. Sounded perfect as it was.
Personally i hope to hear some more guitar playing in this record! I loved your approach on atomic mind and remarkably human! It has some really serious chops! Now mixing that with your epic melodic elements will be perfect
Este hombre probablemente este abriendo una nueva etapa en la guitarra, su esencia lo hace diferente, es casi un bálsamo dentro de la vorágine del standard actual. Estaremos ansiosos por su trabajo!
Hello Sir , one of my biggest guitars idols , together with Santana , Mark Knoppler and David Gilmore :) And noticed you also use a CGM for blood sugar , helped me a lot . Keep it up we love to have more art from you .
Lindo ver o processo de construção de sua música e sonoridade, Nick. Os episódios com certeza irão conectar mais você com o público, acrescentando positivamente para os dois lados! Obrigado pelo vídeo e, por favor, continue!!! Cheers from Brazil
Such a cool series man ! You're truly a great inspiration for all guitar player all around the world. Love your work on remarkably human ;) Bought the backing track a couple days ago and I'm working as hard as I can to get a proper cover of Hypergiant (which is a masterpiece !) I'm really looking forward the new album ! keep up the good work man ! Cheers from France :)
This is great! I try to do something like you're doing but I don't have the patience to get as accurate and detailed as you do. I played drums from a Korg Nanopad 2. I tried on the keyboard but it just didn't work for me which I find funny. I'm a keyboard player first before a guitar player. Looking forward to the rest of this series! Good luck! Oh, I like the views of what I think is Toronto too. Where I live.
Whoa is that a Freestyle Libre at 0:19? Didn't realise you were diabetic man! Same, type 1. Props for doing so much in your career while dealing with that!
You are a Diabete Type 1 person?I see your libre detector at your right hand. How difficult is to be an international musician and to control your sugars individually? I love your music and now knowing this i have much respect for you and for your work!!Take care and be safe!!Also i wanna ask you what do you think for Counterkit Plugin or Mainstage from Apple OS?The possibillity to play guitar alone with an automated drums & bass system following your playing?
The new music is sounding fantastic, loved the video. Have you listened to Ray Lynch's album Deep Breakfast? I have loved that album since I was a kid and every time I listen to your music it brings back all of these memories and connections while still being completely unique. Also bought one of your Schecter USA Custom Shop HSS guitars recently. Plays amazing, love that Wenge neck.
You definitely, definitely need to play with Arjen Anthony Lucassen one of these days. You'd be a perfect fit for one of his Sci-Fi Inspired albums. Both of you guys are just too good to not create something together.
Nick, welcome home, thanks for your music and your Schecter’s, just picked up a diamond series, atomic snow ❄️ beat out a strat pro 2 in my honest opinion, just awesome 👏 Thanks again.
I hope you enjoy the vid, everyone! Please consider signing up to my patreon to continue supporting :) www.patreon.com/nickjohnstonhomework
Everything is epic. The first version of the bridge was the version I felt the most
My favorite guitarist right now, above all the new “math rock” players, his music simply has another level of feeling and melody.

Three great things happened to me and I don't think I could ask for more- Rush, Opeth and Nick Johnston. My taste. My kind of MUSIC ❤
