Wow. Tearing up from old memories back in the 60's and 70's. Both my maternal and paternal sides of the family were there in the area of Stuyvesant and Chauncey. My father brought a home in Jamaica Queens in 1966, but every weekend and during the summer me and my siblings were back in Bed-Stuy with the grandparents. We love that place with so many memories of family events, block parties, all the church's events, and attending school at P.S .262. The Hierarchy are all gone now and all my siblings and other family members ran South during the 70's and 80's when they flooded Bed-Stuy with all those drugs. Me, I ventured off to Oceanside, California, but there is almost no day that goes by that I don't sit back and live in the memories of my home, Bed-Stuy
This makes me homesick. I lived on MacDonough St. Seeing some of these blocks I haven't in over 20 years brings back so many memories. Thanks for posting this. You have no idea how this makes me feel.
Moved to Texas two years ago and it's crazy how much has changed out there already, that building on gates and Bedford wasn't done when I left, thanks for giving me a piece of home
@@j4kgang921 you should be sketchy, one of my close friends was shot in the head and killed just last week on Lexington and Marcy, bed Stuy will never be completely safe, but the stuff that happens is usually personal issues, there won't be any mass random shootings

Sometimes I wonder how New York is gentrified heavy because.... society in New York is so head strong to me. The people stand on business and from what I've been observing alot of society protect their environments and neighborhood
Love it. I am living in Florida now but it’s good to see the old neighborhood and with all the new changes. The best part is that you ended the video in Fulton park directly across from my house on Chauncey street. Thank you.
So true my brother and I were just saying, the new Brooklynites have no idea about stick ball, Hand ball, Ice coca, double Dutch, block parties with dJ dancing having fun no shooting.....everyone knew one another, respectful called adults Ms. whatever..
If this was filmed in 1996, and compare it to now..Youd catch a glimpse of all the family homes and businesses that were evicted (or had their rent increased so high they had no choice but 2leave) to make room for all the nice new buildings with nice new hipsters (oops I meant people) that the developers envisioned living there.
Don't push me out hipsters. Been here for 40 years. I deserve a chance. Crazy how growing up i never seen or experienced it. Could be a good thing but also bad for the history.
An interesting video I lived in Crown Heights in the late ''60's and early ''70's and I remember hearing about BEDSTUY as a young kid! It used to be you had to watch your back in those days ..it looks to me that this area has been entirely gentrified I see bikes and scooters parked along the sidewalks! I have live in Philly the past 40 years and it is absolutely unheard of to leave bicycles outside here if you want to keep them crime is just too HARDCORE here!!
Loved that one!!! I and others too would really apreciate it If you can do a Park Slope 5th Ave. until 5th Ave. Bay Ridge walking video on an weekend evening to see all the bars restaurants and clubs there now in the summer time :) JUST ASKING!!! Greetings from Germany
That's my old neighborhood but I used to live on Bainbridge Street and Malcolm x Blvd... but I'm familiar with this neighborhood a lot has changed I'm going to come to Brooklyn tomorrow and see the changes up close and visit my old neighborhood
Okay I hear you 😉 I was living in crown heights then I moved to Bedford Stuyvesant in 1992 I definitely watched the entire neighborhood change... early 2000 is when I saw construction in Bedstuy and different property's being built up so that's when I know that it was a big change happening
I've only been to NYC once to visit my family who live in Little Italy. I really wish to explore BedStuy one day though, it looks so vibrant and alive. Thank you for the video :-)
Bed Stuy is a beautiful place to live. I have no problem with people from all over moving here but when you come leave it alone the only thing that everyone change including the new comers is the crime other than that nothing else needs to be touched such as gas stations laundry centers bargain stores the essentials now those are gone. But all is welcome to bed stuy.
