  • Deion Sanders quality control coach Dennis Thurman gives blunt speech to team wake up call. This video is about one of Deion sanders assistant coach Dennis Thurman quality control coach of defense Blunt Speech which seem to Foreshadowed the embarrassing Loss to Stanford by Deion Sanders Colorado buffs. The off-the-field excitement surrounding coach Deion Sanders and his surprising Colorado Buffaloes. But a video posted by Deion Sanders Jr. before the loss to Stanford has gained some traction. The clip clearly shows a Buffaloes coach Dennis Thurman giving constitutive criticisms to players for troubling habits that would manifest in losing game and not making it to the NFL.

Ive been thinking the same thing as coach Thurman elaborated on, thats why i didn't trip when cormani and Omarion werent playing. I saw their limited playing time as a carrot to get them to see how it felt to play and as a reward to get them to practice, study and play hard

How can anyone feel that a player or players on a team that you aren’t coaching should be playing. What you feel doesn’t matter. What’s the reality? The guys who aren’t playing just flat out aren’t good enough. PERIOD! So stop wrapping your feelings around who you think should be playing and focus on who IS! Cormani McClain gets talked about like he’s an All-Pro. The kid is a freshman and is being exposed for the lack of discipline and coaching he didn’t receive during his high school, middle school, and Pop Warner years. His talent has carried him. Well now talent doesn’t mean crap because EVERYONE has talent. Also he’s playing for the greatest player in the history of the game at the position he is playing. Let’s move on past players who aren’t playing. They don’t matter right now.

I'm old school and I've been waiting for Dennis Thurman to rise up and truthfully describe this team. I wanted to see him as the DC and still do. Compare his defense at Jackson State and this Colorado defense, not even close to being like that defense. He is exactly right about his observation of this team which reveals a change is coming with plyers and coaches.

Coach Prime brings the intensity but I just don't see it with his coaches. Do these players a favor and stop pampering them. I realize we only see clips on youtube and not everything but get in the face of these young men. Forget asking them to please do better. Just bring the smoke. Dare them to not be locked in 100% during practice. Dare them to be goofing off and joking during practice. They should be going so hard that they are darn near getting in fights in practice. Hey, you may need to cut some players, midseason. They should have ran laps they whole practice after that loss the other day. That loss was pathetic. Do they even care? Did it bother them to get embarrassed like that. Well then show it! Coaches, get their attention. You would be better off losing with some grinders and building on that, than occasionally winning with players that are not about it. Thats my .02 cents.

Their not realizing that If they don't train good or play good, their NFL possibilities may be slim to none. Some players are going to be so caught up with all of the social media that they have going on that they won't be able to even focus on their classes or not give their all in practice for their teammates or coaches from being up all night on social media, having their egos stroked, and dealing with women. 👀💡

As a ex player who been in a NFL training camp those players are blessed to have coaches that can tell you and groom you to give you the best possible opportunity to make it! I seen players come in from big time colleges after the first 2 a day practice their in the of the facility waiting for a cab and when you ask why they always say I just can’t do it it’s not what I expected! CU players practice and condition just like a NFL team and most college players will never get that opportunity because most coaching staff don’t have those NFL skills

@ddbb7505 at the pro level you have the best of the best if you don’t have the discipline and know your assignment, Alignment and personnel you will get your head knocked off. I was a 255lb SAM if you know football you will know what that means, ran a 4.5 40 you had 320+ O-linemen running only a few 10ths of a second off your behind. If you’re not discipline and know what to prepare for camp is going to be hard because it’s a job not a game out there people’s lively hood is on the line it’s brutal out there. If you have good coaching you learn “Practice doesn’t make Perfect” “Perfect Practice Makes Perfect”

That game was brutal for CU, but still exciting to watch the Stanford come back and win as a fan. Stanford's effort is what the college experience is about. So many great athletes in the Pac 12. Thurman's speech is reflective of life. If you don't develop a plan, put the work in, stay away from the distractions, then you wont be successful. This same speech happens in every high school throughout the US. Only 1.5% go to D1 schools and play on scholarships. So learn good habits here on the football field, take those skills to the job (next level for most), and have a lot of good memories because you did your best. Don't look back and regret what you did with a D1 opportunity. If you are the 1.5% on the team. Stay focused and razer sharp because the minute your blade goes dull from not sharpening it you will get what you got last week. Limit your choices. Thanks for sharing the clip. Lets see what CU does with UCLA. Do the bounce back dance.

I think what coach Thurman said was needed and on point! Many of these guys are more concerned with likes on social media, blinging before balling. They think football is the Madden game where you came play when you want to without putting in the work. They talk about being on their grime without grinding! They are at times selfish in their play on the field by being undisciplined while causing penalties in crucial moments! So, I think what Coach Thurman eluded to when addressing the team was needed and necessary!

I felt it was ill advised to deliver such a speech to a bunch of guys getting ready to play competitively in a game where it was reinforced that the majority of them had little to no chance of making it to the NFL; and enjoying the spoils of big money. What would be their incentive to play? What would be their motivation to succeed and excel?? When they felt defeated and misplaced. This revelation was a blow to them and a reality that was just too painful. I agree that coach Prime has to mold these young men into becoming, productive, responsible adult men, to prepare them for a life outside of football. But pointing out the obvious a day or two before performing is hardly likely to sharpien their enthusiasm, fuel their passion for the game and ignite the burning flame of desire that would be necessary to win. These young men gave up, they felt disenfranchised, disconnected, lost their sense of identity, their sense of security and a sense of belonging, they didn't feel a part of a "FOOTBALL TEAM" they felt like regular guys who were temporary "fill-ins". Moving forward the strategy has to change from the blunt reality of life without football so close to game day. Make them fantasize about being invincible super "heros" with capes balling on that field on game day.

To be very honest, we won’t know what the real issues are until, and if, they carry over to next year. Because, as of now, there appears to be plethora of things going on and most of it seems more mental than anything else. I think once they have an actual “full off season” and not the half season the staff had, Coach Prime will actually get to have a better look at the psychological profiles of his recruits and find what he needs to be further successful. But for now, 4-3 isn’t by far disappointing or disastrous and there are still five more games to play after having 2 weeks to prepare for their next game. IMO We have to be a little more patient, despite the need to rush this teams full potential. God bless🙏💯

Some players think what you accomplish in high school would automatically translate to college but most of the time it doesn't. Colleges is a whole another level.of competition. That's a wake up call for lot ot 5 and 4 stars from high school level

Coach Thurman is the next level of leadership speaking truth to the team and the staff giving the team a real eye opening evaluation of the inconsistencies in their attitudes and practices versus their playing time and performance in games at CU and the reality of them having a career as a pro football player. I hear in his speech that some need to carefully look at whether they want to be a Colorado Buffalo next year.
I think Coach Prime has started to seriously access and compile his list of who is not good for his team next year and who will be moving on to the portal or to a new reality. In other words they are preparing them for when the "rubber hits the road". Their actions are speaking louder than their commitment
to the team and the coaches.
He has started his process- talking to the student, the parent(s), accessments by their coaches, and continuing to make accessments going forward which may lead to a new reality for some and true growth for those who love it enough to give it their all and to work for it. Coach Prime is going to cut the rift raft. He will not allow you to ride the wave soaking up all the wonderful benefits while not giving him and the team their best. I say they've had fair warning. " You can move on to your other choices and goals". Amen
