I was NOT expecting a barrage of race uploads from Mrytle Beach! Looks like my whole day is set lol
Its because the track was demolished this year
Thank you so much for uploading these classic races at 60 fps. Greatly appreciate it :)
What a Grid. Thanks NASCAR for the upload.
Was at this race. Just remember everyone being excited that Dale Jr was running there as he was up and coming at the time
Oh, so THIS is the race where Tony Stewart ran that Small Soldiers car.
Not too many know that the 74 car had a experimental transmission built by a genius in a 2 car garage .
He hadn't had a good finish in quite some time I believe 15th was his best in a bunch of races.
He was willing to try anything. I don't know all the details but I know the transmission had some sort of cable that disengaged rotating weight!
Don't quote me but I believe that the input shaft would spin third gear 4th gear and reverse while in 4th.. this homemade transmission would disengage all but fourth causing more horsepower.
By the way it was totally legal! And within the NASCAR rules. This night was a blast actually the whole weekend staying on the beach.
Good times.
Also Tim ( kleenex 33) had radio trouble. The whole race he only had one way communication.
My memories a bit foggy I can't remember if we could hear him or he could hear us.
We were sweating bullets that that transmission in the 74 would hold up.
It was tested the week before and worked as it should but started vibrating real bad in practice.
It was taken out and fixed just days before this.
Most of the team was dead set against running it.
Randy was like f*** it what do I got to lose🤣
Anyways we won and that was one of the greatest nights ever
Well that's one way to fill someone's subscriptions box...
Hard to believe this all happened near where I live. Now-a-days, this track is barely in use.
the track was torn down last year :( noise complaints
Curtis Markham and Randy Porter were solid drivers who could have won a few in top equipment.
Back when Casey Atwood was a “young punk” 😛
NEW TO TH-cam RACE!!!
bring back myrtle beach
But one day someone will rebuild it and rename it.
Tony Stewart ran a Small Soldiers car
Geez the co announcer sounds like Bobby Boucer from water boy
It's Larry Pearson, David's son.
