Riverwolf Similar story for me except I go the extra step and have become obsessed with visiting alton towers. I have been twice in the past 12 months and am going again in 4 XD
My logic of rollercoasters: 1: I look at the rude think I’m all tough, decide to go on it 2: I’m in the line and I start to get a little nervous, questioning if I should leave 3:We’re going up a hill and in questioning my life descisions 4:We go down a hill, and I’m just plain horrified 5: we get to the bottom and I’m like “That was awesome I wanna go again!”
Spike Jr Probably because when you are in POV the train of the ride conceals part of the drop. When you are there in person, you are taller and can see further out.
mike williams jr Yes for sure. I remember riding it about 9 years ago and the heat from the flames was really intense, but tolerable. It looks really different here.
I definitely remember this ride being more intense when I rode it shortly after it opened as a kid. Fire was mega hot and the other effects were more coordinated.
I remember when I was 6 we got stuck inside this ride for what felt like 2 hours, and I was so scared of the music and fire. One of the worst experiences I had, but everyone got free gift cards. It wasn’t the escape from Pompeii, rather the stay in pompeii
I remember riding this amazing ride back in my teen years when I was living in Virginia, and before I had to move back to New York, this video really rings a bell, and brings back so many good memories, I wish I could go back to Bush Gardens, and ride it's unique rides, and relive the good times.
I was there today, I love this ride, I am 13 and have been riding it since I was 4 years old. So many memories are connected, when I think of Busch gardens, the first thing I think of is pompeii
went on this ride with one of my best friends who hates roller coasters with a passion. she was nervous getting on and i told her she didn't have to do it. we were in the first seat, with two other people, and we were the only ones on the ride. at the drop she was freaking out but when we got off she was laughing her head off. just showing that this ride is for anyone who doesn't mind getting soaked.
@@TheRubbing I'm sure that it does. At least it's not a let down like Journey to Atlantis is. I thought I was going to get wet and feel refreshing after a scorcher at SeaWorld and just got a few drops on me and the water was WARM!
Ah, I remember doing this ride when I was a kid, back when my family lived close enough to Busch Gardens! I miss it a lot. This was a ride to always look forward to! I was never brave enough to do some of the crazier rides, but now I want to ride them so bad!
This ride is awesome. I went there with two best friends a few weeks ago and there were no lines for it that day. We rode it again and again in the front row, and the staff let us stay in because nobody was riding it anyways. We got soaked, but that just makes it even better, and we didn't take long to dry up once we finally took a break from it
I was just there on vacation a couple weeks ago. I love the Escape from Pompe. Another water ride at the Amusement park was Roman Rapids. We also went to Water Country USA I had a blast there too. We were staying in Williamsburg, Virginia. We did the Colonial Williamsburg too. And much more. It was an awesome vacation!!!
When I went to Busch gardens Williamsburg Virginia we sat in the front row of the ride escape from Pompeii and got very wet as we went down the drop to the water. Also the seat was a little wet.
I remember going to Busch Gardens Williamsburg a couple times on my only trip to Virginia (so far) back around 1998 (I think), and my mom and I rode this a dozen times. I even got a snow globe from the ride. It looks just about the same now as it did back then. Thanks for bringing back some nostalgia! :-)
okay. I'm going to Hershey park soon and wanted to get gopro footage of my first time on skyrush. couldn't ride last time because of my cast :/ thanks for the help!
At elitchs they don't care whatsoever... Literally, one of my best friends went on mind eraser (they could see his phone) and recorded the entire thing.
+Bassin SoMD i know who owns the park. Well not personally but my aunt went to sxhool with her. Yeah Hershey Park sometimes will let ya slide but most of the time ehhh
Same I loved the ride part like the drop (my favorite ride is the Griffin so it’s not like I am scared of the ride) but I hate themeing that’s the same reason I hate verbolten
I touched the statue once after it fell and music immediately cut and I got told to keep my hands inside the boat (I was in high school, but it was memorable!)
Loved the ride, but I was let down by how short the ride time is. The Atlantis one at Sea World in Florida is so similar, but so much longer and thrilling. So it Mummy at Universal Orlando, also a similar ride.
Summer of 2004, was visiting my brother in Virginia. Went to Busch Gardens. The rides had super long lines, but this one was fairly decent. We get on, and right before the drop, it stops. At first I thought it was a suspense element (I was 16 at the time so I was naive), but then 1 minute turned to 30 minutes, turned into an hour, by then there were news helicopters flying over, and all. The ride op came up the stairs, was able to move the cars back enough for us to get out. I vividly remember news cameras interviewing people when we got off, and people were literally freaking out, even though we were in absolutely no danger. Ahh the memories!
Jurassic ride at universal-Orlando was a joke.. Disney World is/was better... they had less dinosaurs at the Orlando one then they did at the Disney one. And the movement of the dinosaurs were fake looking... I guess Orlando was putting all their time and effort in creating The Harry Potter world...
I’m really not a rides person, but when my family went to Busch Gardens (In Virginia) a few years back this was one of the rides I really enjoyed. 10/10 would recommend.
I'll will tell you folks this cause I still remember it to this day. That Fire burning overhead of you was the worst. You couldn't tell what was burning above you was going to fall down on you or not. But in all seriousness the ride was designed to show those who rode it to experience what happened Pompeii when the city itself was destroyed in a rain of Fire and Ash.
hey man loved the vid . if you ever get a chance you should go to thorpe park theres a tideexactly the same only the drop is bigger and the splash is massive . keep up the good work
+Random viewer We go to Thorpe Park many times every season and although both are Shoot-the-Chutes attractions, Tidal Wave isn't exactly the same as this one. In addition to the size and splash difference, Tidal Wave isn't enclosed and isn't themed at all. Tidal Wave was also manufactured by Hopkins Rides and this one by Intamin, so there's really quite a few differences between the two.
I remember when I was 5 or 4, I was to short to ride any rollercoasters, but I didn’t want to spend time in Sesame place! So, I went on this over and over again with my brothers and dad. I kind of feel bad for my dad! Anyways, I remember this as my 1st major amusement park ride!
you should go on the Callie river rapids. It is not very fast but you can look like you just came out if a swimming pool. It is also one of the main attractions at Walt Disney World Animal Kingdom!
How is one of the best roller coasters I ever went on i will never know because I’ve been on so many AWESOME ones but this one just had something special
This was a cool ride. Not surprised it burned. The heat from the fire overhead as you came out and started down the chute was really noticable. You could also hear the gas burning in the fires inside.
Did they make this ride splashier? I remember from riding it around the year 2006 or 2007 that it didn't get you very wet, but when I went to ride this year the splash looked way bigger, and I didn't remember any sprinklers from when I last rode it either. Ive been to Universal Studios multiple times, the first time being a little kid. I love dark rides, more than coasters usually. After going to Universal I fell in love with this ride... Busch Gardens has better ride than Disney.
I honestly hate going on this ride. If it gets stuck you’re stuck until whenever it’s fixed, there is no leaving. The boat has also caught on fire many times and doors often don’t open.
You have to make sure to pick up your feet if you're in the first, second, or third row. When you enter, the nose of the boat is down and will spill in water, making your feet wet, and i wouldn't want to walk around with soaked feet

It feels so much longer when you are on it and your stomach is dropping

Spike Jr go to this place, ride a coaster in front, then watch a pov
Spike Jr but in all honesty, it's still a small drop. This drop is smaller than the drop of Dodley do rights rip saw falls ant islands of adventure.
they tamed the fire . I remember when it first opened fire everywhere and the statue fell over your head as went under it but still a fun ride
