Woah, talk about timing. I asked my friend who's an accountant (about an hour ago) regarding contribution limits/deductions/tax deferral etc. The conversation took an hour and you upload this now..... weird how that works lol

WOW ... just WOW! Thanks again for an awesome note. My wife and I are in a situation this year where we may have contributed a little too much (still within our maximum) and knowing this may allow us to defer some of our contribution to next year or further along. We liquidated some capital gains, and may have over calculated our tax bracket, so knowing this we may be able to keep our income up in our tax bracket and use it next year to lower our tax bracket into the same bracket as this year. Regardless, it gives us something else to play with at tax time that my wife was unaware of, so thank you! Just in time too!

Hi - if you are a sole proprietor, does your income count as 'earned income'? Can you contribute to an rrsp and benefit from the tax deduction?

Why last year's earning or contribution is considered to determine the RRSP deduction limit? Is Pension adjustment amount same as the DPSP contribution?

Very precise and accurate info! I think I’ll do my taxes early this year and maybe transfer some US stocks in my TFSA to a RRSP. I have lots of room, but My Account at CRA tells me everything I need to know about myself!

Wow. Great video Marc. I just finished maxing out my TSFA. I was gonna start on my RRSPs now. I had no clue there was a deadline!! Thanks again!

Would you consider a video about how you get taxed on RRSP's when you pull them out? I want to retire early and I thought taxes wouldn't be that bad because there's going to be a gap between my retirement target age and when I can withdraw my work pension. I thought because I'd have no income that I when I pulled out my RRSP that it would be taxed in the tax bracket created by yearly total pulled from the RRSP, but it looks like there's tax penalties for simply cashing out RRSP's before a certain age? What happens tax-wise to when you don't meet the magic age for RRSP withdrawal, but withdraw it anyway? A vid on scenarios would be fantastic! Thanks for considering.

I have employer matched RSP, also the healthcare HOOPP pension. Do they count as part of my RRSP contribution? I don't have an actual RRSP account. I notice every year my accumulated RRSP rooom is the same, is it because I didn't report my unused portion?

Thanks Marc, I would add that you can still contribute but no do any deductions if you are expecting a raise next year that pushes you into a higher bracket . So you are compounding and get more money back from the government.

Another great video. I have a question about withdrawing RRSP's early. Say I decide to retire early and withdraw $13 229 a year from my RRSP. Would I end up getting the withholding tax back because I fall in the lowest personal income bracket

I am sad, that Marc did not say anything abut the overcontribution without penalty. The 18% is not a final number as far as I heard in other source.

I’ve got a lot of room in my RRSP. I deposited $80,000 into me RRSP account last week, to bring my annual income down to 100k. The tax return should around be 35k. I’m gonna take the rest of the year off and live frugally off the tax return money.

    • @tomv2302
      @tomv2302 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

re-invest the 35k... Add another 50k for a total contribution of 85k. Receive another tax return (2022) for 35k and then do it all over again. Total cost for you is 50k (not 80k like you stated). Never mind taking the the rest of the year off and live frugally. Get that contribution space filled. 10 years from now you might retire and have the REST of your years off.

@@tomv2302 I really like your plan but I’ve been enjoying large amounts of time off over the years. My father passed away 10 years ago, aged 53, he didn’t do much more then work, year in year out. I promised myself I’d never take the same path. Health is more important then killing yourself maxing everything out. There is enough time to catch up.

    • @tomv2302

      Agreed.
So sorry to hear that he passed at such a young age. Must have been tough and could still be.
Sobering to hear cuz i am 53 and still having to work too much.
Carry on and enjoy your strategy
