Nice one Clint; great to hear that the reason for the season is still being broadcast far and wide 😊 And that Bose speaker sounds amazing! 73 and happy Christmas, Tim
As always, you are doing a marvelous job by capturing the festive atmosphere shared through the airwaves. Since it's a time when we are embracing our traditions and recapping on the memories from the past, it's no wonder that radio has its part in it. Thank you very much for doing that.
Loved this! Thanks for going to the trouble to record and upload your Christmas Eve longwave scan. It's been decades since I could pick up any longwave voice transmissions that propagated into the Pacific NW USA. Have a blessed holiday, Clint.
Beautiful. Sounds like radio. Time was when it seemed impossible not to receive 198khz Radio 4. It felt like it had always been there and always would be there. Now I struggle to hear it without local noise here on the edge of London. One day it will be gone.
Merry Christmas🎄I am proud the Polish "Jedynka" as always loud and clear on LW and I bet it will keep on broadcasting on this band almost until infinity😀 Of course I wish the same for BBC 4 which I like so much! 73!
Merry Christmas.... Thanks a lot to keep us always up to date with our beautiful world of radios...... Never give up... Grazie mille e Buon Natale to you and your family.... 🎄🎄👍❤️
I echo your feelings on this Clint. I listen to long wave whenever I can but this year had to listen to the 3pm broadcast from Kings, Cambridge on FM. I don't know if it was FM or more likely they had a mic recording fault...but it sounded awful. Long wave for as long as possible. Best Christmas 73, to you and yours. Ace , G0ACE
Actually 5, Mike, with Morocco on 171 kHz and Algeria on 252 kHz. However, they play pop music which TH-cam's algorithms will detect so I had to skip over them. Happy New Year!
Merry Christmas Clint. I was listening to this on LW last night as well. I know that FM is technically better, but that transmission on 198kHz doesn't half sound nice :-) 73 and have a lovely Christmas. Ed M0MNG.
I was listening to 198Khz myself a couple of hours a go in my car. The non directional beacon CHT comes in well down here near Eastbourne on 277Khz. Have a good Christmas Clint and 73 G7HFS/PA3IKH
Great stuff, Ian. I can hear several NDBs very strongly from Oxford and every now and then I take the time to tune through them. Happy New Year and 73!
@OxfordShortwaveLog In my car I have an old Pioneer radio and it also has Longwave.A few years ago I actually parked up at the church that is next to the 198Khz tx site and you could almost 'feel' the RF coming from the amazing aerial system 😀 73 and Happy new year to you and yours. G7HFS/PA3IKH

Thank you, Tim. All the best for the New Year and thanks for supporting the channel! 73
I love LW! I heard all the Mongolian stations recently so I have now heard every station on LW in the world. Hope to be broadcasting soon.
Great that you managed audio from Mongolia. I've only ever heard traces from here. Let me know when you're back up on LW!! 73

I agree - love the tone of longwave AM - can't be beaten! Happy New Year. 73
As a die hard icom 8600 user I look forward to your continued footage in 2025
Thank you! 73
Thanks for the video, what antenna did you use?
You're welcome. I used two Wellbrook loops perpendicularly orientated to each other and switched between them.
what about " test/use the nRSP-ST networked receiver against the Icom IC-R8600 and Elad FDM DUOr" ?
Yes, I will do at some point. Cheers
Do exactly the same Clint - it will be sadly missed
Definitely.
Reminds me of my childhood when my parents had it on in the kitchen
I like radio 4 just hate the BBC
Thanks for your comments. 73
Merry Christmas Clint! Great sounding receiver
Have you heard the 486 KHZ Christmas broadcast somewhere on the east coast of the U.S.?
73!
Thank you Sir! Yes I have a recording of the carrier - but no audio unfortunately. I think it's only 300W TX power so not surprising I guess. 73
