Very good vid. I've been changing my own oil for 40 years but couldn't see the filter position of the new car. This vid really hits the marks even for someone that has been changing oil in many machines for many years. Great work.

Hello! Yes I will do that because time will come and our mazda 2 will be needing a transmission fluid change. By the way, it is an automatic transmission and I am having some difficulties on it since it doesn't have a dip stick for the transmission fluid. The dealership said it was equipped with a “lifetime fluid” which I do not believe at all. For now, I have many videos to upload. Don't worry, I will do that video soon. @@DraftProject dip stick for the transmission oil is under the air filter box, you have to remove the air filter box first.. btw, nice video, very detail 👍
Well, it's not recommended and indicated in the manual. Others use it for the belief of oil protection under higher temperature. But, it is still better to stick with the original spec which is the 5w-30 since they are designed to run with this viscosity. As long as you use the recommended oils, you can't go wrong with it. Hope this helps. Thanks!

Yes. But if you have a good record of maintenance, you do change your oil regularly at the right interval, there is no need to remove and clean the oil pan.
The length (head of the bolt is not included) measures at 12mm. The width is 13.5mm. Sorry, I'm not sure if what size the thread is, but it is similar with a regular 17mm bolt drain bolt which can be usually found on Honda vehicles.
Yes. That is the OEM filter for this vehicle. Any oil should do as long as it is 5w-30 and has API SG / SH / SJ / SL / SM / SN or ILSAC GF-II / GF-III / GF-IV / GF-V. Before, I used Mitasu 5w-30 which is compatible and works great. You can use any other brands with the required specs.

Hi my wife have Mazda 2 2017 same this car, i have a question just oil and filter or have to reset the mantenaice, because i not see some light or to reset tha oil change?
Hello, Please do the following: 1. Remove the drain bolt, drain the oil and remove the oil filter. 2. Reinstall the drain bolt and new oil filter. 3. Fill the engine with fresh engine oil. 4. Close everything and start the car. There will be no oil light when the car has started since the car has the right amount of oil in the engine. No light means no problem with the system.
Hi, I have a Mazda 2 skyactive 2016. I wonder after how much km I should change it's oil engine? I could not find it in the manual! Just it says every 20000 km I should take the car to Mazda dealer for yearly maintenance!
@@mohammadrezafarrokhnia2339 According to the owners manual, specifically for those who lived in Europe such as Netherlands, the oil change interval should be done every 12 months or 20,000 KM which ever comes first. @@gtibruce Hi sir! There is no need to reset the oil warning. Just change the oil and oil filter, fill it with appropriate amount of oil, start the car and you're good to go.

I've used a 5w-30 engine oil. That is the recommended viscosity according to the owner's manual. It also depends on what climate or temperature you are currently in, so be sure to check your owner's manual for the right oil viscosity. You said that you have changed your transmission oil at 43k km, is that what you're refering that looks black and changed it 2 times?

Until now it's already 45k kilometers. Feels smoother after i changed the fluid
@@fxalexander5842 Sorry for the late response. Fluid from the transmission was transmitted to the torque converter. Half of the old fluid will remain in the torque converter which means that you won't be able to get all of the fluid by draining it from the oil pan. When you fill it up with new fluid, the new oil will be mixed with the old fluid, resulting it to a dark colored oil. Based on my research, some cars have drain bolt on their torque converter. I'm not sure if this Mazda 2 has one. I will check and changed the fluid once the car reached 100k km. As far as I know, the ATF machine fluid exchanger can do the job without a mess. But I do not recommend it since the procedure doesn't include the replacement of the transmission filter. Speaking of transmission filter, be sure to change your filter whenever you change your transmission fluid. Also, don't forget to clean the oil pan especially the magnet the collects the materials and sediments inside your transmission. Thank you very much and I hope this helps! :)

Thank you very much sir! Sorry for the late response. Unfortunately, the bolts that needs to be tighten and the required specific torques for these bolts can only be found in the service manual. Since this car is somehow still new to the market, service manuals for these vehicles are hard to find and usually unavailable. I made a research about it and most people disregard it. Even dealerships only inspect them or sometimes do nothing about them. Based on my experience, there is nothing much to worry about because all bolts are factory torqued spec. The bolts are tight enough for every condition. The manual prescibes it as a preventive measure. As long as you drive your car in a normal basis and doesn't have any accident, everything is fine. Most of the time, it is only inspected whenever something major happens. Basically, everything you see in the engine bay chassis like the bolts for the brackets, reservoirs and etc can be check for tightening. The suspension is one of the things to consider since vibration occurs there. The bolts are in its factory spec and most of them have special washers or lock washers which prevents them from loosening. Checking the bolts without proper tools like torque wrench and the service manual for torque specs can lead to the risk of breaking the threads of the bolt. If I only had a service manual, I could have lend you one but unfortunately I do not have one. You can check it by feel but be sure to be careful when doing it. I hope this helps you sir! Take care! I agree sir. It just happened that the oil filter was too tight and we are having a hard time to remove it. We decided to remove the splash guard to gain access and more space for our oil filter tool. We didn't have much leverage when we tried since our oil filter tool is a chain type.
Not sure if this trick work on this vehicle. Grab a small clear tube attached to a syringe. Insert it into the dipstick hole and push it until it reach the oil pan inside.
