Doesn’t the lower pressure on E rated tires make them heat up? I’ve been hearing 40 to 45 at a minimum

Yes. But he can do 29. 35 is more than fine .
It's true that LT tires at the same size will need more pressure. Usually about 10 psi more. But... If you go up in size AND go to LT , it can be a wash.

I have my 03 yukon xl suv 35" at 50 rear and 45 front, is that why its so stiff and jarring when i hit bumps!

Great info and sometimes it’s hard to find the right pressure if your tires aren’t factory size.

So weigh your front axle divide by two (you have two tires), look up that load and that’s your minimum PSI. It’s probably 25psi right? But you wouldn’t drive with 25psi because it will wear your tread edges. Which is why this chart is called the LIMIT chart, not the ideal recommended pressure chart, it says it in the chart heading. The ideal pressure is one that causes even wear across the tread at your weight on that axle.

i hate people when they say just look at the side of your door i did that once and it was recomended 30psi my tire looked light with no air and drive for a few days my tire all cracked on the side -_-

Chalk across the tread and see how it wears off in a few hundred feet is best.

I run 2 psi lower in the rear so they're set to 33-35. I may go 1 psi lower. During summer they heat up to 40 and rides pretty stiff down some of the work roads I drive on.

One or two pounds is ok. The tire pressures will change due to heat. Thats why you check Cold PSI.

My dealer put 51 psi in my rav4 tires say 51psi max load door says 35psi this is odd why they do that?

There are a lot of good mechanics that know nothing about tires. They follow a general rule to inflate the tire to what is printed on the sidewall.

OEM Size (P255/65R17 SL) Load Capacity: 2205 lbs. @ 35 psi.
Passenger type tires are fitted with a 10% overage in load capability when used on SUV's, Light Trucks, and Vans because of the difference in load handling. This load overage can be removed when changing to an LT type tire.
That brings the effective load capacity to acheive down to 2005 lbs.
    New Size (35X12.50R18LT E) Load Capacity: 2024 lbs. @ 29 psi
They over inflate all tires except for LT because of the TREAD act , probably...

    • @rudedogii

Should be fine. If you check the factory PSI recommendation on the door sticker. That number is based on the maximum load with factory tires. Are you carrying a load?

    • @charles17508
