The affair continued until the Messenger of God had finished with them.

Prophet Muhammad Mustafa ﷺ was in Makkah (Arab countries). There was a tradition in Arabs of marring with lot of womens. So Prophet Muhammad Mustafa ﷺ stopped it on 4.wives as Halal for a Muslim.

Even one the purpose of his marriage with Aisha (ra) was to consolidate his ties with his close friend Abu Bakr (ra).
