Yeah, you are wrong with how fast YNAB is with the auto importing of transactions. The only way to be 100% up to date is manually enter the transaction at point of sale. It’s designed with manual entry being the main way to enter and auto import is a double check/way to catch anything you may have missed.
just in case someone else sees this and thinks you absolutely have to manually enter in transactions, I use YNAB and never manually enter them. I have some slack in my budget in case I check a budget category and accidentally go over because it is slightly inaccurate for a day or two, but it is worth it to me to not manually enter everything. I still need to assign the charges to a category after they get automatically entered, so I'm still very much aware of what is going on with my finances, but it doesn't require the fastidiousness of constantly logging every little thing as some YNAB evangelists say is necessary. The benefit of YNAB to me is that it forces me to assign a purpose to every dollar and makes me think before I make a random purchase. Having a little delay in charges getting logged doesn't prevent me from doing that in any significant way.
“Bill-tracking is available in YNAB - it's called scheduled transactions. YNAB will also turn a category yellow if an upcoming scheduled transaction will overspend a category. Personally love YNAB -the best money I've spent.
You can get bill alerts with scheduled transactions. It will alert you to approve it, and you can set it to a zero-dollar amount if the amount is not consistent.
I am not really sure what you are saying, but it is a zero based budget. If you like all your accounts you will have budget categories for like "Emergency Fund" and such and that is where you will put things like that that will just sit there.
Yeah the goal is exactly that To make you spend only money that you already have You can’t spend a paycheck you haven’t received Hard in the start but it makes you change how you think
The budgeting functionality is a major selling point of YNAB, but it is also its biggest drawback. Because the budgeting system is designed too precisely, and accumulates data month by month, even a single incorrect input or omission by the user would make the whole account unreliable. Finding errors and making corrections in it would be a mission impossible.
I have used YNAB off and On over the years but to be fair if you Reconcile your accounts frequently the whole account should not be unreliable and if for example you cannot reconcile a particular account if give you the option to fix this by entering an amount to balance the account. Also their support and help tutorials are A1
Right? It's like the video recording of his signup is literally the only time he's used it, narrated as he discovered a few pages, read the popups and called it a day. Just gotta churn that content and SEO, aint no caring with the shallow content.
After spending the last few years trying different apps and budgeting software, this thing got me on track and helped me save far more money than I spent on the subscription so far after only 3 months in. It might not be for everyone, but it worked for me.
The New YNAB is TRASH compared the the original YNAB 4, which was 1 TIME PURCHASE. If you guys want it that, its available online in some places and you can get to download and use for LIFE. Its SIMPLE and lets you be hands. Linking YNAB to your account is Terrible in my opinion. I still love the ynab 4 better. Just FYI, I have been using YNAB since 2012.. and NO REGRETS on the v4.

YOu did a review on this but said "This is my first time using it..." Doesn't that mean you're probably not the person who ought to be doing a review?
Now that YNAB is raising their price to well over $100, I'm finding myself out in the cold looking for a new budget app.

Agree
Just wait until the price goes up in Sept....
YNAB turned my finances around and is worth every penny to me
Love to hear success stories like this!
Can import credit card information and then assign to a category?
You can get bill alerts with scheduled transactions. It will alert you to approve it, and you can set it to a zero-dollar amount if the amount is not consistent.
I don’t like how it doesn’t let me set monthly budget. If I link all accounts, it shows that I have a total amount of all accounts as budget

Yea that would be a drawback of the software.
Yeah the goal is exactly that

U can’t trust this videos because all of them has an affiliate link
We review financial products so 🤷
Anybody know if they sell our info?
I found this useful sub Reddit www.reddit.com/r/ynab/comments/s7zzh2/massive_privacy_issue_with_ynab/
the music of the intro is TOO LOUD
Thanks for the feedback!
Suggest doing a short video on just income/revenue set up and entries. Using multiple revenue streams.
Love that idea. We will look into that soon!

Also, you don’t even know how to use the app

Let us know your feedback of the app
If im budgeting I obviously don’t have money to spend on something that I can get for free in the App Store 😂

Yes, there are plenty of free options.
Do people realize they can do this in Excel for free?
I personally like excel too but there are some added features with YNAB as well.

Yep and now it's going up to over $100 on top of that! I'll be looking for v4. I remember it.
Amazon hides the details of your purchase which makes categories near impossible.
Ugh, thanks for sharing. Good to know. That’s annoying!
This is easily fixed by using the “manage payee” feature, but it’s only available on the web app
