You can use bicycle inner tube to totally quiet your platform clamp. Slide it over clamp. You will have to make a slit in it so you can push down to loosen.
I've really enjoyed watching you and your husbands videos and learning more about deer hunting each video. If I may request one thing would be to drop links on the equipment and or gear/ clothing you guys wear and where to buy them at. I have basically copied your setup for the most part because you do an exceptional job on your equipment reviews. You guys are the reason I'm switching to saddle hunting for next season. Thanks and keep making amazing content!
Just fold up your waistband and use a small zip tie to connect it to the wasteband that is flush with your body and out of the way. That's how I control my extra strapping and it help to not visually lose yourself in all the straps!
One of the things I did was replace the platform strap with a versa link. It took some practice but the strap is much lighter and silent. The versa link is also so strong that I was able to use it to drag my last year out of the woods with.
That is a really smooth operation. I am definitely going to be getting those sticks. The suspenders for that saddle is in my opinion brilliant. I have be thinking about using a regular set to hold mine up but i just don't put it on until I'm at the tree.
If you tie a bungie cord to the end loop of the platform strap, it will stay tight against the platform. I wrap it so the buckle stays in the front of the platform then extend the bungie to connect to the back right side around the corner. Hope that was clear enough to help
A piece of bicycle tire innertube over the cam buckle will make it quiet. I started using a back band this year and it makes a big difference in comfort for longer sits having that upper back support.
This was my first year with saddle (phantom + predetor xl + skeleton stick). This is so nice to be mobile like that! I admit that this model looks really good! Carbon platform will be less noisy in the future. Thanks for the demo and nice explanation!👍

I recently got a ring of steps and running that with a saddle platform, I highly recommended looking into a ring of steps. best of both worlds and a secondary hero clip for bow hanging when one has to move around the tree for a animal that came from the other way, with the ring of steps there is no such thing as a weak side shot and pretty remarkable learning that some saddle experts would never even use a saddle platform but ring of steps only.

So I just got all of my saddle set up orders in. Tethrd predator platform, tethrd one sticks, Cruzr XC, Kong ducks, 8 mm ropes, Cruzr back strap. Will be my first time trying the saddle set up. Just had rotator surgery & torn bicep repair 12/5 so it’s going to be a few days before I can practice climbing & setting up. While I’m down for repairs I got some silencing tape on the sticks, bed liner paint on the platform to dampen the noise a little. Still need a 2 step aider, not sure which brand yet. This is going to be a challenge for me at 60 yrs old but being more mobile, quieter, lighter weight has motivated me to give it a try.
Well done video, and thanks for sharing your setup. The lock down has been great, especially for one sticking. I keep coming back to Tethrd gear after trying other companies. It just works
Great video of your setup but I have a tip for you... When attaching your platform strap, make sure that you always run your cam strap buckle away from you around the tree so that it ends with the buckle right in front of your chest/face. This way you are not reaching around the tree in order to cinch up the buckle. An added benefit is that you can pull it so much tighter, when it is directly in front of you, than when it is on the other side of the tree. Keep the videos coming.
Hello Allie I’m new to hunting both in general and from a saddle. Got my first Doe with a bow 2 weeks ago. A fix for your clanking cam buckle could be at Hang Free with their full Berry H.F.A.S. It lightweight and uses a Prusek knot, so no noise. Hope this helps.
Great explanation.Wish I was younger. The weight reduction would be great.I would try it due to lugging in stands to do hang and hunts, but better off not at this point.Think it would be hard to get use to some of the awkward shooting positions.
Nice set up. I cut all long straps on my saddle and burned the edges to prevent fraying. I put my sticks in my pack and keep my platform on the outside. I need to get knee pads...like NEED! I have not had a need for an aider using 3 sticks. I have longer legs so I am able to increase my stride in between sticks. I use the rubber wire to hold my platform to my pack. I simply attach my platform to the pack when going down.
Check out the Yak Grips to silence the buckle on the platform. It's like a neoprene sleeve. You just cut it to cover the buckle. You can depress the lever by pushing through the neoprene. When I first started saddle hunting like 5 yrs ago that's what I used for my sticks. I use rope mod now but they worked really good for my old buckles
Try piece of rubber bicycle tube cut to length and put over the cam buckle on your platform strap. It will help silence it. Also I’d recommend looking into toe hooking your platform and camming it over to set it better.
Take a look at replacing that cam buckle with the hang free hfas rope or the USA platform rope from EWO. It gets rid of all the metal and imo is safer, amsteel. Other option is to cut a bit of bike tire and put it over the buckle. I am texting this from a tree in my Lockdown saddle right now, as a one sticker this thing is perfect
@@OutdoorsAllie I struggled with the same issue. I tried amsteel daisy chains and versa straps but I like the way the cam buckle locks in the platform. I tried my loop around the versa button loop so I can adjust the buckle to get the bungee at the right spot and it holds it pretty tight. Good luck. Love the channel btw
One thing I will say. I always tuck my bridge away while climbing because I've always had issues with it catching on the stick or the versa button while climbing AND descending and it will pull the stick off the tree lol. Iono if it's just my sticks or the way I climb but no kidding if I forget to do it it happens every Damm time haha
To prevent the platform strap from clanking, hook the loop over the corner of the platform and tighten it. I keep mine wrapped tighlty around itself with nothing added.
I have s carabiners every couple inches all around my saddle and paracord loops on my sticks, platform, etc. I attach them to saddle individually - I prefer the even weight distribution.
Lastly I take a couple screw in hangers for my bow. use different ones in different scenarios (tree leaning away, toward, lots of branches, no branches, recurve or compound?)
I usually go sunup to sundown so I'll have 2 thermos's, and a water bottle on me as well. One Soup, one Coffee, and one 2L water bottle. (Now this is the weird part, sorry ladies - I also have an old water bladder from a platypus waterback thing... and that is my tree urinal - don't get down, and seals it shut....)
I’ve used the Tethrd platform. Its nice. But I switched to the Seeker by Cruzr, night and day difference. You should try one if you haven’t. Have you considered one sticking and rappelling down? Good job on the videos!
Try cutting a bike tire innertube to slide over your metal cinch strap buckle like a sleeve. You are still able to operate the buckle but it won't clank.
