No, parkour is not what you make it! You need to respect its origins in France during WW1 and later the 1980s. It has its basis in military training and is about efficiency of movement.
Didn't he just say that parkour is at the bottom line, about movement? Obviously he has no need to discuss the history of parkour when he is discussing his stunt career.

I have much respect for those who have paved the way for parkour. From George Hebert to David Belle, Sebastien and the Yamakasi. I've been inspired by them all. There is always a debate about what is and what isn't parkour. It is based on efficient movement yes, but really when you train it comes down to creating physical challenges for yourself to build strength and confidence with your movement. Well, Parkour is a term invented by Luc Besson, and David Belle liked it so much that he used it to describe his interpretation of the Yamakasi's Art du Deplacement. And for David, efficiency of movement was the most important thing. Unfortunately, the media often confused the terms Parkour and Freerunning, Tricking etc. so that eventually many people think that Pakour describes the whole spectrum of movement. Just as Paul. I wouldn't blame him for misusing the term, but instead the media. Although it also seems to reveal that he isn't too interested in the history so much as the practical performance.

I’ve always wanted to be a stuntman then I picked up parkour and realized they can coexist together.
