  • Kite fishing is a productive way to cast a beach longline with up to 25 baited traces up to 2000 meters and more offshore. This "how to fish with a kite" video explains the fishing techniques and fishing rigs.
    www.fishingtacklesale.co.nz/k...
    The key to success when kite fishing is in having a reliable kite, we used a Paul's Fishing Systems Super Kite which has a guaranteed wind range of 7 to 50 knots. On this blustery mid-winter day we had 20 to 25 knots of Northeast wind with gusts up to 30 knots.
    Fishing the northern end of the beach we caught a total of 10 snapper up to 2kg, four gurnard and four kahawai from four, 25 hook sets. The Paul's Fishing Systems Super Kite flew perfectly for the entire 8 hour fishing session and provided enough pull to keep the 50 kg breaking strain mainline supported clear of the water for the whole day. The rig is a Paul's Fishing Systems 50kg breaking strain 25 hook Dropper Rig powered by a Super Kite.
    About a kilometer south of us a large group of fishers with two vehicles were using three kite fishing rigs. While their kites were the right size for the job they were unstable and sluggish and kept looping and would crash into the sea in the strong gusts.
    They only managed to get two full sets between them for the whole day.
    The rest of the day they spent hauling downed kites and trying to launch them again and again.
    If you are going to try kite fishing, get the best purpose built kite you can afford to avoid frustration or failure.

    I picked up one of your kite rigs second hand to see if I'd actually use it. It's brilliant. It's the old style where the traces clip to the main line. I actually prefer this style as I'm in whakatane which has a lot of boat traffic and this keeps the main line down the bottom not on the surface. I've hit a kontiki line with my boat before. Obliterated my fish finders speed wheel and transducer. I'm guessing my prop probably cut the line and someone lost an expensive kontiki.
    I'll be picking up more of your kites in the near future, pocket sled etc. I'm keen to try live bating over some reefs from the shore using some type of release clip setup. I'm loving everything about kite fishing. I've even decided to sell the boat. The kite i got must be at least 10 years old and still gets used monthly and works like new. Very high quality. The whole setup is really well made. I'm glad i tried your gear first and will be a customer for life.

      Thanks for the compliments. The bottom longline kite fishing rig is great for areas where the rip is light and sharks are not a problem. The reason I like the kite dropper rig on the west coast is you can fish even if the surf is 3 meters high and easily get past the really strong longshore current that the high surf generates.

    Nice system
    beautiful prey
    Well
    I have to ask something
    static electric air
    What is the risk of shock
    Lightning high energy
    is there a risk?
    Or
    Is there any grounding line?

      No one has reported getting shocks. We don’t fly in electrical storms.

    Amazing idea! How do you drop the leader line? Do you just let the kite land on water and pull it together with the fish/harvest? Only problems I see is when the line breaks you lose the kite, and when the wind blows in a different direction.

    • @paulsfishingsystems
      @paulsfishingsystems  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the line breaks you only lose the hook section, everything is progressively sacrificial and it's designed to protect the kite and mainline.

      @@paulsfishingsystems Hey Paul, have you tried slingshot surf fishing? Like using a slingshot to cast your ordinary sinker as much distance as possible?

    • @paulsfishingsystems
      @paulsfishingsystems  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use kites, Kontiki’s and drones. Slingshot would be less practical for long casts than any of these

    May I ask about the black "stuff" hanging from the kite? Is is some weight playing role as a tale or a boil that does not let it sink in case of torn line?
    Thanks for your answer in advance

    • @paulsfishingsystems
      @paulsfishingsystems  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is a polystyrene float to keep the kite on the surface if it goes into the water.
