    ENGLISH TRANSLATION:
First, four adolescents come to mark the parcels of land that have to be cultivated by one of the age groups. Next, the age group arrives to cultivate the land. This is what's been called "Kassa" in the Malinke language. Kassa. Removing weeds. Kassa.
Next, the musicians arrive to encourage the workers on the field. After the age group has arrived, the owner of the land arrives to donate a goat to the age group that is doing the Kassa. The goat is donated as their sauce [food, fuel]. The goat is slauhgtered and the meat is taken to the village to make dinner.
After this, the young girls arrive with breakfast. Each girl has been chosen by her male friend. Within the young generation, each young man has his friend among the young girls. The work continues. It continues.
There are specific moments that can be used to switch rhythms during Kassa. What are those rhythms? The first rhythm is Soro. After Soro, Tourafoli is played. After Tourafoli, we play Kon, the father and mother of all Malinke rhythms. The source of all rhythms. The foundation of all Malinke rhythms. So, even Soli is played during Kassa. All this comes from Soro, the name of the fetish, the gris-gris. It is a very powerful gris-gris. It is so powerful that it can undermine all your co-workers, so you win the girl that has been chosen as princess. The one that finishes his parcel first, wins this girl. It is Soro that makes this happen.
What do we see now? What is happening? It is the arrival of the great meal we call Kondon. After Kondon - did you see the arrival of Kondon? - we play another rhythm during Kassa. This rhythm is called Kondonbedounoun. The work starts again. What are the next rhythms to come during Kassa? It is Dibon. After Dibon, the work is finished. There is still one rhythm we play that is called 'N Donasso. After 'N Donasso, we prove to the villagers that the work that was entrusted to us, that we have finished it. This rhythm is called Nkoké. After Nkoké, it is Tourafoli again. Tourafoli continues, it continues. Each one comes to show the bravery of what he has performed on the field. And it ends with a little Gbada.
So, if we say Kassa, it is Soro that is at the foundation of Kassa. Where Kassa is taking place, Soro is the first rhythm being played.

Rhythm through life... What a beautiful way to live: work the earth, work together, follow the rhythm of time, follow the beats of nature. Wish one day I’ll be also able to dance like no one’s watching.

I hope they keep to their traditions & culture forever - most of us, influenced by the digital wave that is social media & smart appliances, don't even know where we come from, there's power in the knowledge of one's roots & the resolve you experience when you learn more about your own culture - keep it from fading away, keep the memory of it alive through honouring those who came before.
We are too focused on nonsense these days, I can't go a week without WiFi, I used to be a bosaap (someone who enjoys being in the wild, untethered from the woes of city life) when I was a kid, but as time never stops, technology altered my perception of life itself when I started to grow up into a young adult.
Don't want to stretch this into a novel, but they're the lucky ones - not us. I'd give anything in order to feel free again, from technology & simple distractions preoccupying the soul from 'connection'.
    Peace be within all ✨🪐

Hi brother Sanjai... South Indian culture is very similar to West African culture. I have also realized this many years ago, that our festivals, many of our words and even names are very similar. First of all we all came from Africa but also later on Africans moved or were taken to many parts of the world. I find similarities even in the drumming and Kankurang cultures. You are my brother, never forget that!!!!
