at the end when the thing that polca feared the most ended up happening, she still got a reward for her kindness, that all her work ended up paying off even if its not in the way she envisioned it to be, that her actions became the inspiration for others that finally accomplished what she set out to do even if its not by her hands personally
I Think i love seeing Princess and Forest Spirit like that... The irony these two met imediately and stayed far away from eachother only to keep running into eachother for one of the most twisted reunions ever... Eroge RPG Maker or not, Demons Roots was a gem of a game, better than some big title games out there...

Replaying now on NG+ I see how much I missed, and for how long it all was teased. The very first words we see Polca say is her failing to remember some friend she lost. When she is about to enter Lily's confinement, she can already sense something with her body, mistaking it for fear of the legendary serial killer. Deathpolca even says that if it was up to her, she would tie her up and shove her into a barrel (something that she later actually did XD). And that's how far I got until now on NG+... But I realized how much there's teased at the start of the game of what will happen later in it! I love such things! It really makes me see everything from a new perspective!
Demons Roots is peak story 🔥 What I really love from the story is how it NEVER failed to deliver plot twists again and again. Even better, the plot twists ACTUALLY relevant with the characters motives and backstory. On top of that, how it's written with many little details that after we realised the character's past it became foreshadowing. That's why NG+ is so worthed to play so we can realize that foreshadowing from beginning. Not to mention, the characters have REAL characters that compliment each other with real character development. For example Ange from useless into the strongest shield when she had to protect her queen. Kalinka who completed her and her mother's mission to defeat the king. Diana to stop her father. Sarasa to stop the corrupted education system. And all that is geniusly paid by their ultimate skill unlocked at that moment. (If you didn't cry during one of those moments, you lied). ALL THAT peaked at the final boss where it's not only physical rivalry but also characters and ideological rivalry. Noticed his shape and conversation on each phase and how our girls showed the determination to prove he's wrong based on their own unique character and experience. For example in his Aubade form he mentioned that he learned techniques of misinformation from Aubade but Diana proved that there are Aubade that uphold truth and justice in her FBI mates. And Polca when she realised that the Blessed Curse is her dark reflection if she's succumbed into loneliness and then ALL characters do their ultimate together to prove that Polca wasn't fighting alone anymore. That's peak story right there 🔥 We can basically use Demons Roots as a great example on how to write compelling story and characters complete with their backstory, relevant plot twist, and their final boss as their final ideological confrontation.
