When I burst into tears in the Neurotologist office, he was whoa whoa whoa. All the tests came back normal ( didn’t know that Menieres doesn’t show up on tests) VNG will show an abnormal balance response. I think the part where I sobbed “how am I supposed to live like this” alerted him to the severity. We now have a great patient doctor rapport! It was laughable when all was said and done. At the time though, when he said all tests are in the normal range, I lost my mind.
I have complained about these issues for years and been told its allergies and given allergy meds, eardrops and nose spray and problem has only gotten worse over the years. Tininus, hearing loss, fullness in ears and vertigo is not helped with allergy medicine. Dont wait for VA doc to ask if you want to see a ENT specialist.
I think the thought of menieres causing tinnitus is not always true! Ive had tinnitus since 1997 and didnt develop menieres till around 2011. My thought is tinnitus over time damaged my ear to point of vertigo
Meniere's doesn't in fact cause tinnitus, tinnitus is one of the few things that has to be present to be diagnosed. There is no research to show tinnitus damages the ear or hearing. Vertigo is a very different medical concern.
How do I get checked for this. I was in artillery got out in 1994. Have never made a VA claim. Have always had the ringing in the ears and hearing loss documented in exit physical. In the past two years I have had the dizziness and congested head feeling. I have been getting Xanax From regular physician for what they consider anxiety attacks. They will not give me a referral as I have told them I think it’s related to military. Any advise to get to ear nose and throat doctor? Thank you so much
Consider talking with your primary care physician again. If he/she cannot refer you to an ENT perhaps you should find a new physician. Call your local VA for advice if you have documented loss from military work.

Meniere's is a serious condition. A good ENT will help you through it.
I was prescribed meclizine and it did nothing for me

How is it that the medical profession never know what causes medical problems like Meniere's deseases?
This is frustrating. And with more research maybe we will have a definitive cause in the future.

I’m sorry I learned almost nothing from this video except you farm out to an ENT.
