I got cupping a few days ago and highly recommend it for swimmers. I am a high school varsity swimmer and shaved almost 4 seconds off of my time in my 100 free just from cupping, and I get less tired when doing long sets.

My mum is an acupuncturist and has been doing "cupping" on me since I was quite little, so I've grown up around these alternative practices and I find it so funny that these experiences are deemed unusual to people :) It is wonderful though, I would recommend it to anyone!

Maria Bardo If not for clear medical benefits (which probably were made up or not proven through medical science), it seems to be for another way to relieve stress and back pain along with that relief of having your back freed from the suction. And maybe, though this is a guess, the slight pain it can cause through the suction and capillaries rupturing can release endorphins.

Actually this is a very soft version. The real Chinese one is much more impressive (the therapist has to take out the "bad" blood especially) but not painful and VERY effective. And you keep marks on your skin for about a month. Don't do that if you have a weak health condition tho.
My dad did that and he have lots of those circle marks on his back lol

Actually, the pain factor depends on how healthy you are. As a person who's not in good shape and has gotten fire cupping therapy, that sh*t hurts.
As I understand it, the rule of thumb is that the more purple the bruise is, the more screwed up your body is. Like, for example, I once got a massive purple spot on my lower back from a session. Turns out that particular spot had been exposed to cold winds, and it also screwed up my kidney a little.
On the plus side, after that bit of agonizing pain, I felt so much better.

In here we did bring the blood capillaries to the surface too. But with some hot gel (those gel that you rub near your nose to ease plugged nose) and scratch it with coins. Those who needed these, people said that there are "airs" in their back (the part thats scratched)
People said it's air inside your body because the more air you got into your back (ex : you played sports, then just blast a fan to your back) it will get redder and more painful.
These have low chance of doing harm(the capillaries can break/rupture) but everyone did it anyway as it will make you feel better if you are starting to get sick. And apparently it releases dopamine too in the latest research
