      Exactly, thought the whole point of these kind of adapter interfaces is to be more forgiving than whatever they're being converted to, but it's more of a PITA than the real deal (HS USB) it seems.

    Hi Phil, thanks for this deep analysis on delay time including chip itself(FPGA)+PCB routing. It's so clear. Would you please help to make another video that shows the result of delay estimation by test? I am exactly interested in that and would like to know the difference between estimation and real case if possible ! A Big Thumb has given to this video without a doubt!

    I think some people might underappreciate, or underestimate, the significant efforts you've made to prepare for your videos (full credit to you!) Any thoughts on the hours/ratio of preparation you've done for, as an example, this 15 min video?

    • @PhilsLab

      Thank you, Bruce. Hmm it's tough to say in general, but for a 'normal' length video such as this one, I try to keep it around half a day in recording/editing/etc. The actual design of the board was done before and is part of a personal project, where I don't really keep track.

    Would there be a way to export the propagation delays of each net that terminate on the pin headers of the system on module?
    If so, could you import into the baseboard connector components as their package delays?
    Can IBIS hold this sort of information?

    Why do you use Dk=4 for the solder mask (14:51) instead of the Dk=3.8 that JLCPCB states (14:42) ? Thanks!!

    • @PhilsLab
      @PhilsLab  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hardly makes any difference - especially at these frequencies.

    Thank you for a great video, as usual. One small feedback: usually the people that comes to TH-cam to learn things are not professionals, so more KiCad over Altium would be welcomed. I know Altium is the best software, but it is also very expensive so it's not the first choice if you are not a profesional, making money out of that. Also I would love a professional service to have my design and/or schematic checked by a pro, do you know such a website that offers that for a reasonable price? Thank you!

    Do you not need to account for delay and resistance through the board-to-board connection? If so how? And if not why?

    • @PhilsLab
      @PhilsLab  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since all signals go through the same connector, as with 'properly planned' vias, you do not need to account for the delay. This is because the delay is added to each signal. However, you'll most likely get an impedance change (discontinuity) which can affect signal integrity. Higher-bandwidth connectors are available which have defined impedances and are rated to given max. frequencies.

    Hi Phil, I will graduate this year with a Bachelor degree in electrical power and control engineering. I'd like to work as an electronic hardware design engineer, I've seen many videos on your channel but my brain is messy because I don't know how to start in this field and most of youtube channels are making random video and tips & tricks without speaking about the road map of the field. Could you advise me ?
