Nepal's Chitwan National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in the southern part of the country. It covers an area of 952.63 square kilometers and is home to a wide range of flora and fauna, including several endangered species.
The park is best known for its population of one-horned rhinoceroses, which were once on the brink of extinction but have since rebounded thanks to conservation efforts. Visitors to the park can also spot Bengal tigers, Asian elephants, sloth bears, and a variety of bird species.
Chitwan National Park offers several activities for tourists, including jeep and elephant safaris, canoe rides, and guided walks. Visitors can also learn about the Tharu culture, an indigenous group that has lived in the area for centuries.
The best time to visit Chitwan National Park is from October to March when the weather is dry and the wildlife is more active. However, visitors should be aware of the risk of malaria and take appropriate precautions, such as wearing long-sleeved clothing and using insect repellent.
Chitwan National Park - Chitwan National Park is the first national park of Nepal. It was established in 1973 as the Royal Chitwan National Park and was granted the status of a World Heritage Site in 1984. It covers an area of 952.63 km2 (367.81 sq mi) and it is located in the subtropical Inner Terai lowlands of south-central Nepal in the districts of Nawalpur, Parasi, Chitwan and Makwanpur. In altitude it ranges from about 100 m (330 ft) in the river valleys to 815 m (2,674 ft) in the Sivalik Hills.
In the north and west of the protected area the Narayani-Rapti river system forms a natural boundary to human settlements. Adjacent to the east of Chitwan National Park is Parsa National Park, contiguous in the south is the Indian Tiger Reserve Valmiki National Park.
This national park is home to over 50 mammal species, over 525 birds and 55 amphibians and reptiles. Endangered animals found in this park include one-horned rhinoceros, bison, Royal Bengal tiger, wild elephant, four-horned antelope, pangolin, golden monitor lizard, python, etc.
