I was honoured to have met him years ago at a Metalheadz night in Camden. It was a memorial night for the recent death of Kemi. I gave him some flowers and told him to give them to Kemis family. He welled up and gave me a hug. What a way to meet a true hero.
Brilliant interview. James always has the best guests. Goldie is the true meaning of an ‘artist’ in every form. If you know drum and bass you understand what he did for the music, a true pioneer, and respect to people like grooverider who pushed it hard to bring him to be noticed in the early days.
I’ve watched this a few times and always come back to it because we all need that I’m not alone out here. You know i really truly appreciate him sharing his soul on here. I’m an addict and realize I’m fucking loosing the battle Big time but you know I’ve got hope listening to Goldie.

I was in a queue for the Southport weekender dance party at pontins one year back in the day, chatting with others in the queue as you do... These people were Eastenders background/extras directors Goldie was playing there and they mentioned him... I knew his wife at the time Sonia and mentioned it too them... they had a look of not buying your story, and moments later Sonia and Goldie walk in and she greeted me and then she said what you doing in this queue come in with us... So I shrugged my shoulders at these directors of little faith and walked in... buzzin! Goldie was and is a top man and gent!

I was in jail with Goldie's brother Melvin in 1998. Such a top guy, he spoke of their upbringing and boy it was tough! Melvin was a lovely guy, I hope he is out there making a success of his life. This will be my listen tomorrow on my 5 and a half hour drive to Scotland! Nice one James!

I lived in Heath Town mid to late 90s plus I was into drum n bass but I'm pissed off with myself that I didn't really appreciate the significance at the time. Chervil Rise was no joke. Listening to this today, had my thoughts going back, some good some bad. Listen to a couple of tunes of his, my pal was more into his music but on a human level wanted to thank Goldie. I won't presume exactly where he's at in his journey but listening to him talk reminded me how I get. Someday I think I have it all sewn up and pragmatically dealt with thi gs if the past but sometimes when I drawn upon to touch on things it takes me right back and I start to talk it through like I'm trying to still work it all out and then I rrmeber where I am snap back to the present. I know in and around the chaos of my thoughts is the answer and the truth just sometimes we ha e to mask it with a pragmatic approach because otherwise the reality and truth hurts too much. I felt I could see it with him in this interview at times. In any case thanks him for being as open as he was today, certainly made an impact on me, Resignate with me and in a time when you can feel isolated in the storm in your head made me dwell a bit yes, which is maybe not so great but that many if us are nit alone in are experiences of pain but he nailed when you take the experiences as blessings that shape us now, reminds us and keeps us grounded. In situations where people of hurt me, I look within how I have hurt others and it human humanises those who you would think you should hate. We are all on a journey and all making mistakes, unfortunately those mistakes and pain ripple out. The part where he discussed going around to see his ma with the film crew and she bring out the biscuits say it all, he probabky wanted to be angry at her but how could he, she was as much a victim as he was and I use the word victim for want of a better word as he is anything but. Everyday is a struggle if thought, some good days some bad but we work through until we dont have the strength no more.In any case thanks for this today, enjoyed it❤🙏🏻
