Lol that dude is literally running in the water, it's pretty funny to watch. I've never seen that, sure it's a great exercise too. Keep up the good work guys.
Cool video. would like to see more like that. wish I lived in the San Antonio area so I could join in. they were treading for a long time. how much more after the vid cut off did they tread?
hey Mike. Thank you for all of your extremely helpful videos. I am having some trouble understanding how to use the interval generator in the pararescue fitness preperation program, and would really appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction. Thank you, both for your help and service
Yes it sucks 😆! You have to get used to it. It gets better with time but even now if there's a lot of chlorine, I don't like it either. Just keep doing it and it will get better 🙏
Hi, thank you in advance. I noted that these are the intervals, should I be shooting for something faster or this is the sweet spot? 0s 1 pushups 40s 2 push ups 1:25 3 pushups 2:25 4 pushups 3:25 5 pushups 4:25 6 pushups 5:25 7 pushups 6:25 8 pushups 7:25 9 pushups 8:25 10 pushups If you are able to share, what intervals should I use to when we wear ocps? Thank you for reading a comment of a 5 year old video. The information is still very relevant.
It's a good interval to work with. Not sure what interval they are running with ocps but everything I put out has worked in the past and isn't too hard so if you can do more then do so, but if you can't then most of these should put you about avg. Do what you can and strive for more. The more you push yourself now, the better you will be. Always train with a buddy and or let the lifeguard know . Thanks for the question and good luck!
Hey mike how adept would consider these guys as far as swimming? Are they pretty good or need a lot of work. Because to me they look pretty damn good which means I need to get my ass in the pool
Hi Mike, are the 10-ups and crossovers usually done across the width of the pool rather than lengthwise? And how wide are the Medina pools? I am leaving in a month with a CCT contract, stoked to get started!
Hey Msgt, Im a security guy stationed in Moody AFB. I would like to get in touch with a someone to help me in the process of training and preparing to cross into Para rescue. If you help me make contact with some it would be much appreciate it. Thank you.

Hey mike. I'm just starting to get information on training for Pararescue. Where do I start? I currently live in NYC and wish I had someone to guide or train me like these guys.
Unfortunately not. Honestly I've been just getting friendly with swimming coaches at my campus and swimming for free with my school ID. Working on my swim times/technique as well as eggbeaters for 5 minutes (Current goal). Basically training to go beyond the PAST standards for the 500M swim (8 minutes I believe). Getting on the track field and working on that 1 and a half mile run for 9:00 minutes. On top of doing Martial arts as a hobby lol (BJJ,Judo, Muay Thai). Surprised there aren't more mock Indoc programs/ Immersion Academy's out there. I'd argue there would be a lot more efficient cones.
small niche market lol I wonder why more people dont want to do the job : ) Sounds like you are in a great place, count yourself lucky and kick ass bro
Thanks for replying. Would you recommend picking up Free Diving courses if it's ever possible? Or is that a pipe dream of trying to control the *No breathing* factor of Indoc?
I do email me michael.maroney.1@us.af.mil we can talk This was one of the classes we used to do when we had a good crew Looking to build one up again, got 2 guys already, you would make 4 of us and a good time The more the merrier
I tried to reach out to Rescue Athlete here in San Antonio and I dont think they are still active. Do you know any place with Pipeline based training in mind
If you can wear your mask around your neck, if you are just starting you can start without your ask and work your way up, but during the course the mask is down and to the back if possible, try to be as hydro dynamic as possible
Hey there Mike. Not sure if you discussed this elsewhere, but I had a quick question about the PAST for PJ and CCT. In your experience, do you know if most guys swim freestyle or a combat swimmer stroke while testing? And do you know if most that are able to pass have trained previously in swimming? I never really learned to swim properly, been at it for about 2 months (4 days a week) and I am just not getting fast enough to hit a 500 m in time. I could maybe hit the CCT time but no go for the PJ. And I also realize that these are the bare minimum standards. So I feel like I'm missing something? Or do most people take a good amount of time to build up that type of swim endurance? Thanks for any help in advance man. Appreciate your videos. Peace!
I'm currently doing this program www.docdroid.net/y2l5qnL/pararescue-fitness-preparation-program.pdf.html I recently assessed my mile time and hit a 6 min mile. Thanks for your help! I know I got a lot to do still but vlogs like yours helps a TON!
Per Jimmy Settle: "A cone is a PJ or combat rescue officer (CRO) trainee who has passed the tough initial physical ability and stamina test (PAST) and the initial selection phase." What that means is that you are a "cone" for the duration of your stay in the pipeline, i.e from INDOC until ~2 years later when you are wearing a maroon beret, should you make it. I'm still not sure about the origin of the term, though...
A cone is anyone that wants to be a PJ or CCT You were born a cone and unless you get a beret you will die a cone Cones are so dumb they may not even know they are cones The answer is in a video
@@Navs126late to the party on this but in the book on military water confidence the author (Alan Phillips?) mentions it comes from a Saturday night live skit. Also mentions Mike my name. If you actually get to the point you apply everything, and can physically do all the aspects of the stroke(s), it should make a 25 or series of 25s and treading trivial.
Nice pool. When I went through INDOC, the pool was filled with mud and live alligators. Kids today have it so easy.
its much cleaner now lol bro
Mike Maroney And the live alligator was named Mike Maltz. lol
5 years later but him saying "run faster" while in the water 👌
I like how slow the cone in the black shorts is going. Nice and smooth.
he is awesome

its called aqua jogging, its a killer cardio workout, I had never sweat in water before
I'm going to enlist in about a year. One of the biggest obstacles in the mean time is learning how to swim lol
There are no obstacles unless you allow them to be. Over under through or around...

It is hard to understand primarily because of the numbers they have put in as placeholders. Just look at the math and cross out the bold numbers.
Brian McGinnis Thanks, that helped a lot.
ya no worries!
Man Timmy was really hurting on the tenth set of pushups
I can do an underwater with a mask on but without one I have trouble. Is there anyway I can help get better without it and is it much of a difference?

Length 20 meters
but if you can train to a 25 meter you will be good
Train above and beyond but always with a partner and a lifeguard
