Very insightful narration! In nut shell Breman Asikuma traces their roots to Kumasi breman. Breman kuntenase traces their roots to kuntenase in the bosomtwi district, where as Agona Nyarkrom traces their roots to kokofu and then kwamang. And Funfact Agona Nyarkrom Paramount Chief , traditionally is a direct uncle of otumfuo Asantehene. Akan tribe is basically one people who persuaded different motives.!

Please can someone tell me the meaning of these names
    1. Pinamang
    2. Aduboffour

Pinamang - One who Accepts nations or Allow Nations to be / come in existence. Aduboffour - Adu the Hunter and Adu is the Tenth Born Child. Other connotations of Adu are Badu/Bedu. I hope it helps. Or if anyone has a different meaning, Comment.

      _Historical Background_
The Akans share a common ancestry, culture and language with few speaking relating languages. Akan follow a matrilineal culture. Hence, they inherit from the mother’s family. For about 1000 years ago, there were not groups like Asante, Fante and so on. They were all just Akans. It was due to migration and disagreements that led to these Akan subgroups.
      _The Separations_
Before, these divisions, Akans were living in the Bono region of Ghana. Some of the Akans left this forest area to the coast in the south. Then the rest were asked “where are the half of you”? They answered, they left to the coast. In Akan half is called “Mfa” (Twi dialect), Mfan (Fante dialect). So, the Akans on the coastal area became Mfantefoↄ (twi), “Mfantefo”, Foↄ/Fo meaning people. Therefore, Akans who went to the coastal area are now called “Fantefoↄ in twi”/Mfantefo or Mfantsi in Fante.
A group of Akans living in and around the todays Ashanti Region were oppressed by other Akan people called the “Denkyira”. These oppressed akans organized themselves “because of war” = Asante. Asa means war and “nti” stands for because. So, now we had a newly formed group by name Asante. With time, a lot of disagreement/wars occurred among Asantes. Some move Southwards, now known as the Juabens of Koforidua, the Capital of the Eastern Region. The Kwahu in the Eastern Region as well were Ashantis who migrated to their present area. Some Ashantis moved to Ivory Coast, today known as Bawule. Therefore, Akans are also at present in the Ivory Coast, some of them were there before the arrival of the Bawule. It was the Europeans who divided the Akans between Ghana and Ivory Coast in accordance with the Berlin Conference in 1884. So today the Akans consists of about 40 groups of whom most people have never heard of. For example, few people have head of the Herman. The largest are Asante, Fante, Akyim, Bono, Akuapim, Kwahu, Assin, Denkyira, Akwamu. The most populous are The Asante, Fante, Akyim, Bono and Akuapim. Other Akans are Ahanta, Ahafo and Adanse (usually regarded as Asantes because of their location in the Ashanti region). Akan subgroups found in both Ghana and the Ivory Coast are Nzema, Sefwi, Wassa and Enyi. Some of these subgroups have subgroups. The Fante subgroup have subgropus such as Oguaa, Gomoa, Mfantsiman. There are even an Akan group in Togo who speak the same Twi as the ones in Ghana.
      _The Language_
As mentioned earlier, "nti" means because. In Fante, it is spelled ntsi. Let look at some examples of words "ↄkyenantsi" (because of tomorrow), "ↄtantsi" (because of tomorrow), "basiantsi" (because of a woman. Hence, her comes the doubt about Mfantsi being a blend of Mfante and etsii language. Thus, ntsi in "Mfantsi" is not necessary of language mixture Fante and etsii but rather "because of the half". Anyway, that was mine interpretation. The truth is that Mfantse means "Ofa-atew" meaning "the half that separated". Ofa is another word for half and atew is "to be separated.
      _Now to your question_
The Bono Twi is more close to Fante than Ashanti Twi, if you know what that is. Most Bonos today speak the Asante twi. In addition, all languages have various dialect. So do Akan. There are various version of Ewe and Ga/Adangme. That does not mean, they are not the same people. Even, the same language changes with time. An Ewe man travelled to Europe in the 60's. When he came back, it was not the same Ewe, the Ewes were speaking.

“Fa Etsii kasafo” makes sense than all the history I have heard with the name of Fantse. I have 45 minutes interview with an Etsii king at Abandze and they made it clear to me Fantes adopted Etsii and mixed it with the Akan language they brought from Bonomanso to make the Fante we know today

No no the brief narration of Asantifo is not right . Before the formation of “Asa nti” which literally means “because of war”.they used to be independent states with their independent rulers. Who were then tormented by then feared Denkyira kingdom and then ruler Ntim gyakari .Till Osei Tutu who was then Kwamanghene( now Kumasi) became the first Asantehene and Okomfo Anokyi suggested that in order to defeat Denkyira people ,all independent state should come together. And when they came together as one people with their motive as because of war“Asa nti “. After the Denkyira war Asanti’s realized their mighty and began to fight to conquer more lands.

@@kwesikwaa "those who moved out of asante to join the fantes are the enyan, agona and assin.". This is what you wrote. Kwaku Darko mentioned that enyan and agona moved later southwards and became Fantes. So, why are you then adding the Assins to the group? How did the Assin joined the Fantes? You did not write anywhere that they came from Bono. Neither did you write that they came from the same place.

    • @kwesikwaa
      @kwesikwaa 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@africantruth2539 joining fantes down south doesnt make them fantes. agonas arent fantes they are agonas and they speak agona. just as some efutus in winneba still maintain that they arent fantes. ahantas moved out of techiman together with the fantes, does that make them fantes too? the comment alludes to the fact that fantes came out of the asantes and i am pointing him to those who made that move. one of such groups is the assins🙄
if i didnt mention bono then theres no need mentioning it.
