It just stands out that within paternity court a lot of the women who have multiple potential fathers, didn't have a father in their live. Early on I thought the child didn't look like either man. You could see the mother did too, saying she slept only one time with the friend (maybe true), but knowing that hiding the truth was an option for her - so she took it.
But she hoped it was for ONE OF THEM (especially for it to be Mr Pace's) so she could hide and 'no one' would ever know what she was doing in the past.
The way she moved over to console him, even this, was different. She didn't look him in the face or have that true concern. Wiping the small tears whilst looking straight at the judge's face.
I do wonder if the judge knows paternity beforehand, or truly finds out when we do. Though she does have the paper in front of her from the envelope, scan-reads it, then reads the results in a monotone voice.
The woman is not to be trusted. She would do everything all over again. If he got back with her she might 'slip up' again. She just wanted to forget about her behaviours and be able to have someone support her and her son.
