tl;dr warning Hey there everyone, Scharrface from NAMU/ tonehunt. Just wanted to clarify a few concerns about NAMU. Presets: as many of you have noticed, NAMU does not have any presets built in YET, sorry for the inconvenience. We are working on them and they will be added as an update very soon. This plugin was only in beta phase for about a week, so even we at The Amp Sim Universe didn't get that much time with our hands on it outside of bug testing. We all have full time jobs or caregiver commitments and this is our passion that we pursue on the side. We wanted to get it into your hands and let you play around with it instead of waiting until we had the free time to create presets to release it, but they're coming. What makes NAMU stand out: Stereo functionality, so you can run L and R guitars through one instance of NAM U. Although stereo functionality is limited with IR panning not yet implemented, but that will be added soon as well. Ease of use: NAMU comes with some of our favorite captures and IRs from some of our favorite developers built in and features a link to go straight to tonehunt, which makes it easy for users to just grab and go without having to go search through tonehunt to get started, but also makes it very easy to go to tonehunt to find new captures if you want. Also, having the pedal loader, amp loader, IR loader, and basic tone shaping tools all in one plugin makes it easier for users like myself to change tones and save presets without having to edit each plugin in a fully modular signal chain. CPU usage: some operating systems do seem to be suffering from abnormally high CPU usage, which is being investigated. If you are experiencing high CPU consumption or bugs, please report them via the feedback button in the plugin, that's the easiest way for the developer to keep track of and address these bugs, which he is working very hard to do. Should you use NAMU over other NAM loading plugins? If you want to, yes. If you don't, no. Simple as that! NAMU is completely free, so feel free to try it out and decide for yourself, or not if you're happy with what you're already using. Just like any plugin, it's not for everybody. I perfer it for its simplicity and "all in one" nature for my signal chains. I like to keep things modular for the most part and always have my go to reverb, eq, and other post fx plugins so I do not need an environment like Genome or Tonocracy, because I would only be using them for their NAM loaders. That said, the components that I am constantly changing in my NAM signal chain are the captures and impulse responses. So for me, having that basic part of the signal chain isolated into one plugin where all I have to do to change my sound is change one preset is preferable. For others that won't be the case, and that's totally fine. Use what works best for you.
Honestly kudos to you guys for brining such products and tools to guitarists today. Such a tool with these capabilities where not even possible in my dreams when I starting playing guitar 20 years ago. The fact that this is for free is just mind blowing. Thank you guys !! I have tons of plugins and I am completely conquered by this one, for one reason: Workflow ! It‘s just so fluid to audition profiles, IRs and assemble tones. In terms of Workflow, I would rank in this order: NAMU, Genome, ToneHunt, Tonocracy, NAM (Original Plugin), Gigfast Lite. Again many thanks guys for using your free time to bring such things to our community ❤🤘😊
@@adilO.o Right on, it's crazy what we can do nowadays with just a computer! Truly this is a golden age of music creation technology and I feel lucky to be here to witness the ambitious directions that the industry is headed in. When I first started playing, if you had a line 6 spider or peavey Vypyr, you were the coolest kid in school. My first amp was one of those 9v powered mini marshalls 🤣. Always been a bit obsessed with tone, but it was hard to get out of what we had available back then to say the least lol. I'm glad you're digging it man, I perfer this workflow as well! We're all big gear/ plugin geeks at TASU, so there's almost nothing we'd rather be doing with our free time than this. Pretty much all I do when I get the chance is make IRs and NAM captures for fun, nerd stuff for sure lol.
Just wanted to thank you all the way from Brazil. I've been here since Amner Hunter was demoing free amp sims way back in the LePou plugin era, and seeing us, freeheads, have access to what professionals had for a long while (Kemper, and all other amp profilers) is mind-blowing to me. And I've already saved some of my presets! Maybe because I'm from the free/libre community, so I'm used to tweaking stuff, and turning knobs fearlessly, so as the software currently is (with "bypass" changed to "power", excellent word choice) it is already perfect for me. Once more, thank you and keep it up!
Nice comparison. It would be interesting to see the CPU usage when activating the other rack modules like the Pedal Profiler with a loaded profile. I your last video your PC seemed to struggle alot when using the Pedal Profiler. I think NAMU is a nice "out of the box" experience, but if performance suffers, the modularity of NAM is better I think. Also, Tonocracy is great, love the file management structure. I will have to do some testing :)
@@AmnerHunter Ah my bad, I see it now 😀 I guess loading a profile into the activated Pedal Profiler will increase CPU usage. Saw the developer's comment below to report any issues with high CPU usage, good to see that they are so responsive!
im sorry to inform you but Tonacracy is free and way better then both of these plugins, infact the NAM universal has zero use for me, I rather stack two names then be married to those ugly INTAGATOR and AGRAVATOR racks, tonacracy blows away Helix but uses the same type of interface., its own eq, boost are the best, other then this the Audio Assault Amplocker with Nam is great if you like their built in effects and archetector which is like Tonacracy
@@OfficialFatLip In that case, if you're using Tonocracy you have iLok installed and don't even know. This NAM Universal is a great standalone, only missing a delay/reverb.

14:42 great tone and great playing
To prove that the tone is not changed between the plugins, one can just run the null test with flipped phase on two tracks.
and how do you do that on a Mac?
@@OfficialFatLip It's not a hardware question. You can easly do it in any DAW, regardless PC or Mac.
That is a great method.
Yes indeed that’s a great method, don’t need to go that far probably since is very audible in this case using high gain sound.

Nice! Amner, do you provide on your site those NAM files taht you have? for example, the matallica nam that you used in this video. Thanks!
It actually comes in the download when you download Nam universal, when you install it you also install those folders with Nam captures and iRs
universal NAM is no presets. No Mac Logic ?
Yeah that’s another point, no presets.
Last time you turned the pedal on your CPU choked like crazy and now you don't even load a file and turn it on and it does nothing... duh
Maybe cause this time I don’t have a pedal profile loaded.
