    After a local garage bent my driveshaft beating the F out of it to get old u joints out . I just do em my self now . I take a cut off wheel on a grinder and cut the u joint . Then i dont have to push a cup both ways . Way easier ! I remember in the late 70s welding my first shafts up with a coat hanger and a cutting torch set to gas weld ! Never had a problem ! Never broke one ! Spicer is the best by far !

    In my place we repair an average of 20 driveshafts a day, I´ve been doing this for more than 34 years, best regards!

      Hello Do you guys build the rear drive shaft for a 2008 Acura MDX that runs fron the transfer case to the rear differential??, my mechanic said it has a stiff front joint that is attached to the transfer case and he said it is un-repairable.

      Would you happen to know if a yoke being 180° is ok or not?

    Hello. What type of pliers are used on the snap rings in this video? I have been using small knipex pliers but am interested in trying the ones shown. Thanks

    Just a question. After you pressed out the u-joint at 5.35, what do you do, if both legs are not parallel at the drive shaft? I'll appreciate your answer. Thank you.

    Does the slip yoke have to be balanced with the driveshaft or does the driveshaft and u-joints alone get balanced?

    I have a 97 Jeep Cherokee; I just replaced the balance pulley and the radiator, (like, yesterday) and NOW my drive shaft literally just FELL off as I was driving...this happened once before, when I first got it, and I had a guy put it back on, but was told it was missing some bolts, which I guess he didn't replace? Bc it just fell out again....is this problem related to the balancer pulley (not sure if I am correctly naming these parts!) at all? Or is this an altogether separate issue??

    i like pushing the new cup further up in the bore so the cross piece extends out of the bore on the other side. that way the needle bearings in both cups are in contact with the trunnion and kept in order.

    I like how after you do this in your garage, you find needle bearing on the floor for the next ten years.

  • @dangerdavefreestyle
    @dangerdavefreestyle ปีที่แล้ว

    A needle bearing has a diameter of .078"
    If one fell in the bottom of the cup you'd know.
    I am running your 5-1410x Ujoints in my 2005 Ford E-350. They come with .059" copper, .061" gray, and .063" pink snap rings. NONE of them would fit in the grooves. The grooves have been SANITIZED. I am running .056" snap rings in all 8 spots.
    I have a stash of snap rings.
    If you DONT have a stash of snap rings and you DONT know to do this you could be inclined to grind the caps or smash the snap rings in there and have too tight of a fit with ujoints that are too stiff and this could cause a vibration.
    There are clearly inconsistencies in machining and what works best for your vehicle.
    Aftermarket parts store ujoints are even worse. I can only recommend knowing this stuff OR only using OEM because thats whats made for your vehicle and only your vehicle.

    I noted there was no care to place joint end caps on original trunions and that axial play was not measured following installation.

    • @Eugromlol
      @Eugromlol 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@earthstix6407 yes that is a very good price make sure you grease and re band the boot (211959x) around the sleeve thats what keeps those SPL shafts from failure. Also line up the yoke shaft ears with the weld yoke ears so your shaft is in phase. If you still have vibration problems and this is part of a one piece shaft take it to a professional driveline shop there could be more wrong with your shaft than you know!

    • @Eugromlol
      @Eugromlol 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      an out of balance HD spl drive shaft can take out Transmission counter shafts and cause havok on your rear diffs It is extremely advised that you take it to a Driveline shop for estimate/repair otherwise you could be looking at a larger bill and longer downtime. If it came from factory not in phase there could also be a reason! the only answer to that is that you have a compound angle which in case putting a Driveshaft out of phase is the only way to correct it. Do not plough ahead and fix yourself. If the problem is growing all the more reason to stop and have parts checked/ repaired. Most Driveline vibrations occur at certain speeds in different gears noting both will help. does your vibration come from the wheel or the seat? do you feel it through the entire truck? Taking your truck to the dealer is not always the best bet for fixing your driveshafts. Although they have tech's there Driveline work is a niche in the industry and not many mechanics know the ins and outs of the driveline world. good luck

      That is called a Tiger Tool U Joint Puller. They make knock offs cheaper, but the metal used is typical Chinese junk and can break. Better to get the actual Tiger Tool if you can swing the cost. Good luck.

    Sometimes after replacing the Ujoints you need to take off those factory wieghts when rebalancing.

    • @millsjohn8867
      @millsjohn8867 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a driveline shop and the problem is when the factory weights are welded on they weld in the middle and a lot of the times you can't knock the weights off because it will put pinholes in the tube sometimes it won't and will knock off and other times will damage the tube safer to leave on if they haven't fallen off

      you can get that ujoint removal tool as well as a jumbo balljoint press with a ujoint relief hole on ebay very reasonable, a vise is okay if its large enough to do the job, a hammer is for a monkey who doesnt care about their vehicle.
