RC Expo (short for Exponential) is a setting in radio-controlled (RC) transmitters that adjusts how the control stick inputs translate to the movements of an RC vehicle's control surfaces (like a plane’s ailerons, elevators, or a car’s steering). It changes the sensitivity of the controls around the center of the stick.
What it does: With Expo, the response to small stick movements is softened, making it easier to perform smooth, precise maneuvers while still allowing full control authority when the stick is moved further from the center.
Why use it?
Beginners: Helps prevent over-corrections by reducing sensitivity around the neutral stick position.
Experienced Pilots: Allows for smoother control during fine adjustments, especially useful for aerobatics or delicate flying.
Positive Expo (+): More Expo - Creates a smoother, softer response near the stick center. (Negative number on the Radiolink Radio)
Negative Expo (-): Less Expo - Makes the controls more sensitive near the center (less commonly used). (Positive number on the Radiolink Radio)
Expo is commonly measured as a percentage and can be adjusted for each channel independently (e.g., aileron, elevator, rudder). It's a critical tool for tailoring the handling of an RC model to match the pilot’s skill level and preference.
