Coming to Crete in late february. Don't expect to swim or go to the beach but explore the beaty of the island. Your video tours are a great guide and very informative.
I like the new beach. It will help preserve the wall from the rising sea levels. It will be interesting to see if it is still there at the end of winter and not washed back into the sea. Great walk, good to see the old parts of the town.
The works going on, which Zameer refers to at the end, are centred around the construction of an underwater 'bulwark' designed to prevent the larger waves from striking the waterfront and causing possible damage during winter storms. It's also one of the reasons for the reconstruction of the beach, which used to be there some decades ago anyway. I love Zameer's vids of Crete, they're excellent.
They're turning Ierapetra into a much more attractive town now & well worth visiting for the day or to stay in! We WILL return next year (2023) to check how things are going. So far, so good, and I hope any winter storms won't spoil everything? Have a good winter and an even better new year!

Great video as always Zameer. Don’t get me wrong, I love Crete and have visited the area many times but why is there so much graffiti. I don’t get the tolerance of the tagging that goes on etc.

Yes it is possible to swim, but it's a bit cold, I personally swim in winter too ;)
