Dude YES! Living the dream my friend. I promised myself for my 42nd birthday (I bought the boat for my 41st) I’m going to buy myself some kind of ultralight that doesn’t require a flight path. Either a paramotor or a gyrocopter… just gotta lose weight in between then and now!!
@@shadetreesurgeon i hear there is some real good paramotor schools down there in Florida. a youtuber, Tucket Gott works with Aviator Paramotor not to far from lakelane. I definitely would recommend some sort of training if you want to try flying anything, it is not something that you should try and "feel out" as there is a lot of ways mess up, some of them you can only do once.

That Ranger center console boat is out outrageous. I remember those boats use to sell for $65,000. I have a Bluewave boat I bought 20 years ago that I paid $18,500. Things have gotten outrageous.

I bought a small Mercury outboard from my local Bass Pro. A couple years later I went back to buy a propeller. They said ok, we'll order you one. What? You don't stock the propeller for a common outboard that you sell? Sorry. I'll get it from Amazon for half the price and free home delivery. I try to support my local businesses but they gotta make an effort. BTW I had a V45 Sabre with the same fairing. It was a screamer. I can't imagine what the V65 is like. I saw that bike collecting spider webs when I visited David and Cindy last April. It does deserve resurrection.
I thought you did very well with the boat launch and recovery. Bass Pro has crazy markup on their boats. I always buy used anyway, much more bang for the busk. Congrats on the house and keep up the good work. Great vid.
for wood replacement on boat and trailer I recommend switching to the plastic / PVC boards. for my deck boards I recycled some scrapped pvc boards from a commercial bath room. I picked them up from the green project in New Orleans maybe you got a similar resource in Florida. For my Running boards on my trailer I PVC glued together (with clams and SST wood screws) two 1x4 pvc trim boards to make 2x4's cut and bolted them in place.
I'm not a bolt guy, but I thought about the cons of using nuts and bolts instead of screws, I might be completely wrong. Nuts and bolts are more likely to corrode and seize, making it harder to take apart for maintenance. That being said if you put a steel screw into aluminum you'll end up with the same problem. The second thing is weight, the extra length of a bolt to pass all the way through and then putting a bolt on the back side can add up to extra pounds when your replacing hundreds if not thousands of screws with nuts and bolts. I don't know if any of that helps, but I love the videos.
I am with you, would not spend that much on a boat. But spend 15k on a motorcycle that I use everyday! 50k boat, I better be able to live in it for a week or more.

Part of supporting a small business is realizing they do not have the liquidity of a large corporation, which means things might be delayed or take time. Most of the people supporting you should understand this. It also gives some of us a much better chance of getting stuff.
Those are typical prices, find a good dealer with great service. My nearest Yamaha dealer is great and they sell G3 boats. They are lucky to have Bob rigging boats there he does an amazing job not just rushing the boat out the door with problems to be corrected later when you just wanted to fish. Smaller dealers are better & a great one delivers great customer satisfaction. Mercury is great but you just can't go wrong with a Yamaha or Suzuki on the back.

My boss bought a new 50k boat. Two things - it was only 10k more than a 5 year old boat that probably never had an oil change and he plans to keep it a solid 20 years. I had the same question about baller expensive boats and he said the fishing comp people get wild. They’ll launch a 500k+ boat at a tournament in Pensacola, go all the way to Louisiana to fish and still be back in time to turn in.

But, that 400 horse, V-10 Ranger ….. RAMMING!! speed on the water. That would b a hell of a feeling and at $150k+, it should b.
Most people who buy things like that, Boats, Sports Cars, Motorcycles etc., usually put large amounts of money down to make the purchase more affordable. Many of those people pay cash. If you really want something in life, usually you find a way to afford it. Yes, there are folks out there that have more money than good sense. 👍
I worked as a Caravan and Motorhome Valeter for a Stealership once, and you'll be surprised the amount of Customers Part Exchanging their 2 year old for the New Model and the Trade Ins get bought instantly. This happens every year without fail even during a Economic Depression.😮
Use some stainless steel bolts. General steel, even galvanised with fade away quickly. Love your electicism videos dude! I wore my "Shadetree Army T-shirt in Ukraine and locals were looking at it a lot, wondering what foreign unit it is...kept it "weird".
Love seeing my bike all in one pice. And love the stock or was it a aftermarket faring. That was sold through the dealer. Bought one for my 700 back in1985. Could not buy the color matching for my 700cc . Bought my basket case v65 around 2004. Bought a lot of new parts and mounted new tires. And then put it Aside. One day Maybe. I should just think about turning it into a Trike . It is a very tall bike.
One maybe silly question is why modify the engine mounts and not put the new piece behind the mount, then a small rubber spacer for between the mount to the engine to make up the space added by your new fabricated part. But not a bad job!
I bought my 1994 Proline for $14000 in 1999….sold it a few years ago for $2K to get it out of the driveway….honestly, I regret doing that, but I just didn’t have the time to work on getting it running again….good deals are out there.
There's nothing wrong with you than nuts and bolts on boat parts as long as they're stainless steel, preferably polished. If you're screwing stainless into aluminum, use some Teflon gel to help prevent corrosion. Also, if you're attaching something to the boat ( like a strike plate to the bow) you can use 5200 adhesive to help sick and seal around the screws.
It's a 1500$ boat, you don't have to use it very often to get a return from it. Boats are not my thing but each to their own. I have bad habits for fun that people think are stupid too.

Regular home depot wood slathered in poly or stain or fiberglass resin is your friend. Just need to be as waterproof as possible
Use some stainless steel bolts. General steel, even galvanised with fade away quickly. Love your electicism videos dude! I wore my "Shadetree Army T-shirt in Ukraine and locals were looking at it a lot, wondering what foreign unit it is...kept it "weird".
That’s so awesome man!! Stay safe over there my friend!!
You may not call yourself a fabricator, but you have gotten better compared to some of the stuff you made a couple of years ago. Keep up the good work
That's why I have motorcycles and not boats
Great engine total blast. Reliable as a anvil. 45 also.
I'm all about the cheap old boat that needed a little work!!!
Preorder is best. If you can’t understand that things go wrong sometimes well don’t buy preorder.
It's a 1500$ boat, you don't have to use it very often to get a return from it.
Boats are not my thing but each to their own.
I have bad habits for fun that people think are stupid too.
If you put $1000 into that boat it could look like the $30k+ boats. A nice wrap for the hull and some elbow grease she would look brand new.
